The New Defender

Looking at all the complaining and whining (obviously based on 'opinions') on some UK based forums, JLR's move to produce the new Defender outside the UK has actually become another bonus in my view. Seems my money is better spend with a Slovakian worker. m

Hi All,

I note with interest that some Land Rover dealers (eg ULR in Melbourne) have the 90 listed...

*Defender 90 - coil & terrain response, 18" steel wheels, 3d camera, cruise control, smartphone pack, 2.0TD, etc
*Defender 90 S - 19" wheels, leather, 2.0TD
*Defender 90 SE - keyless entry, leather, 20" wheels, 3.0P
*Defender 90 X - Air Suspension, Terrain Response 2 (I assume only works with air?), other cosmetic stuff. 3.0P (although slower than the SE? Same donk? Heavier I guess)

Anyway - nobody from LR is willing to give me a price, none of the 3 dealers that I have contacted have returned my query. That despite the first dealer saying that somebody would be in contact "within 24 hours" - that was a week ago I think...

Oh well - Land Rover can't be that interested in selling these vehicles, especially to a brand loyal person like myself...

Are JLR serious that you need to up-size to the third of four model tiers to get keyless entry???
Come on! $25k Hyundai’s come with keyless entry.

They won’t exist for another nine months at least. No point in them going crazy trying to se them.

I am in the market now for a vehicle - and can wait, but there isn't any point in waiting if the pricing is out of my reach.. I get the fact that depending on options, the gap between a base spec car and the top spec car could be as much as $70 difference... I also get the fact that until I have sat it one, and driven one, I can't make a decision. All I want from LR is an indication on price. I'm probably wasting my time waiting anyway...

They don’t have 90 pricing yet and won’t for awhile. 90s won’t be put for a year or more. They are building only 110s first.

That sort of stuff really grates about LR pricing. At the entry point the price is well and truly high enough to expect what is now classified as a basic item.

Keyless is TTO, not remote.

I find it difficult to believe that they don’t already have the pricing. After all the vehicle is advertised on Land Rover website’s.

If they don’t have the pricing - then why advertise the product? Seriously!

Indeed. It's a great vid, with some fantastic footage, esp of Goodwood, and he makes some extremely good points.
