I wont be buying a new Defender until there is an EV version.
    Vehicle manufacturers are in sales...

They will make & sell whatever the market forces demand.

Whilst the hot topic is Climate Change and EVs they will make them.

Also, don’t forget government and other pressure to do so is extremely high at the moment.

new defender = approx 850km range, which is decent fuel range and 100km more than the previous 110 defender, which is to many, the holy grail of overlanding.

So fact wise i dont see the point you are trying to make, something about beer? The New Defender

I'm not trying to imply that's a bad thing, if that's up your alley, totally get that, but for those that have done so, it's probably time to realise that the new deefer hasn't latched it's land rover tentacles on the 'purerists' yet.....??
(Is that how purerists is spelt?)

I hated the bloody thing at first, but it's now grown on me, and I quite like it. If I had the coin, I'd start sniffing....
However, I don't have that much coin to spare. So its still ye good ole' Td5 (yes, it's in a Disco 2a, not a DeeferThe New Defender), tech for me.

I remember when the D1 was first introduced. I remember going to look at one with the old man at ulr. I'd been brought up on series Landies and Classic R's, and so this new Discovery thing, was an absolute bloody hideous disgrace. The flippin tailgate didn't even open the right way!! WT??
I've now owned 3 of the buggers!!
Still got the original posters of when the first disco was released. The New Defender

    Anyway....

Seems to be a little 'hate' goin' on..
People Gunna love, people Gunna hate...
    Just sayin. (Me 2c worth)

Yeah im not digging the hate either, if people love it be happy for them, if people dont like it, no worries. If you have a reason to not like it, for sure let us know with facts.
If you dont agree with someone, point it out kindly whilst respecting their opinions.

History seems to repeat itself over and over with new vehicles and some don't seem to learn.

What's interesting is a few photos (attached again) were posted above showing an impressivly utilitarian interior above and the only comment was, that's not a 80k vehicle interior rather used 20k??

If it keeps going like that i won't be posting anything more up, full stop.

The way I read it, everyone loves every aspect of the new Defender - except the price. I think they are over priced by around 15% which is a good negotiation target with your stealer.

Given they moved the D4 from a perfect overlander to the D5 - a RRS competitor,
And they've moved the Defer to effectively replace the D4,
I wonder if they have something on the drawing board to be the true replacement for the Defer - maybe a competitor for the Merc or VW et. al.

I post the above picture in jest, but in all seriousness a true defender replacement would have to come from Tata using LR running gear and hand me down technology.

I am sure Tata have bigger plans.

Correct. Which is why I’m waiting ...my ‘market force’ is pretty much all the influence I have. + my current diesel Defender will do me fine until then, no need to buy a high-tech dinosaur.

Nothing personal BR. That’s just what I think about those photos. An impressively utilitarian interior should have an impressively utilitarian price tag IMO.

4 others have liked that post so far too. Discussion re the New Defender will have positive and negative viewpoints. It looks like a great vehicle overall apart from the price, the lack of a hybrid / EV and a few other aspects IMO.

So if you want base model and leather on the road you are looking at what $83k or so at a guesstimate. Cheers
