Guidance on Defender options

Have also hit a road block as i refuse to sign a contract with my trade-in being valued just before the car is delivered and effectively having no say in the price on the contract apart from the abilty to remove the trade-in or sell it privately. We are going a bit OT, but when I sold my (4yo) car privately to prepare for my pending arrival, I got considerably more than the dealer was offering. Have a look on CarSales or the like to get an idea of the value of your current car. People are paying a premium for used cars.

Yes got it wrong..Only X Dynamic HSE and V8 now ....confirmed by my dealer today.

We have just paid a deposit on one.... car looks awesome. Also need to finalise options. Need 7 seats. We have priced up three options - base model P300 with 7 seats, grey wheels, black roof, tow hitch, roof rails, wndsor leather upgrade gives us memory seats with heating and cooling - about 115k. An S model with D250, same price but manual seats. SE, no heating or cooling in the seats, but still elctric memory seats, a few extras like the subwoofer and better lights, got the D300, about 120k.

Anyone know anything about the P300 engine? Seems we can get a lot for less if we go the petrol?

The P300 only comes in what they call a STANDARD spec and uses more fuel than the P400 when looking at the Combined fuel information. It quoted as the Si4 engine and given how JLR work this will be from an existing range. Look to see if its been used in a Discovery Sport or Jag and you might get information that way on any known issues.

To get the upgraded seats in the STANDARD is expensive as it only available as a package $7547 ouch. In the SE the H/C seats in std leather is $1495.

Picking what you want and trying to sort out the right car for you is made very hard with the 100+ options that are offered. I was clear no sunroof and that drops you straight back to the SE or lower that was the easiest decision to cut my choice.

Priced up a D300 SE at the dealers on Friday

With a few options including bull bar, winch and adventure pack north of $136 k

That was with out a few things i would have liked as well i.e. 7 seats

There was no negotiation in that.

Significantly smaller than D5 & less powerful.

If only i could get bullbar and winch combo on D5.

Order placed today for the 110 SE D300 with the options listed above. Sort of weird to go thru a lot of research, options list and test drives for a car I won't see until early next year. Will give me time to save the extra 10K I will probably spent on extra bits to attach to the car. My wife sort of accepted the car and the price but does not yet understand that this is probably just the start.
