Parallel or sequential? Guessing this is the V8.

It will do a burn,if needed, when they are usually above 350 degrees, and during the burn will often increase the readings to a maximum of 450 degrees,on occasions.
Would you see that in stop/start driving, or only on longer stretches?

I can also watch the DPF level guage on the vehicles instrument panel while driving, and see it doing a burn,as the level guage reduces.
That's pretty neat. DPFs have a differential pressure sensor and showing the driver that info is a helpful thing to do.

With respect TB the reply whilst it is relevant to your post, it is irrelevant to the original topic. The drivers of modern diesel engines need to be aware of the conditions required to operate them and your reply is valuable. Scarry's post adds little to its topic.

If you dont want to read something, just move on.Its not rocket science.

I would say its relavent to anyone that is interested in Diesels, although its slightly off topic, which is common in any thread.

    Correct,parallel

It does happen in stop start traffic,as the EGT's are up there if the engine is hot and working, but i notice it most on longer runs.I doubt it will happen on very short runs, when its not hot,but we dont do many

Yes,as is the manual burn if needed

I think time is a factor as well,if the vehicle does short trips and doesnt get the time to do a burn, even though it warms up,there will be issues.Once started, the EGT's come up pretty quickly if its working, but just idling along, they can cool off reasonably quickly. In places with low ambients, such as Europe and colder places in Aus,the issue could be more frequent. In saying that i have seen it burn at idle but i cant remember the temps, but i do remember the smell, its horrid.

Scarry what you say is good but it is not relevant to the topic!

It is worthy of a new post in the Technical section!!

The topic is Defender Options in the 663 section. Dual DPF's aren't an option.

As a moderator, my job is to try to keep things on track...its a struggle!

Surely not! (BTW it's my joke not yours)

What value would you like to add?

Yes I agree but not relevant to the original topic....Scarry doesn't own a Defender 663!!!

Is staying on topic a challenging concept or is Facebook a better place to be for an off-topic discussion?
