    Carrying Water

One of the best accessories I added to my current Defender was the 35 litre water tank from Frontrunner. It sits behind the rear passenger side wheel.

So given that the inside space in the new Defender is precious, an equivalent external space is not available and the roof loading capacity is relatively generous (168kg dynamic) I've been looking for alternatives.

Frontrunner has a couple of roof-mounted options including a 40l option but the downside seems to be filling the tank when it is on the roof.

This mob VAAST | Portable Water Solutions & Gear | 4WD, Camping & Overlanding has an excellent product. It's Aussie designed and can be filled without having to climb onto the roof. I've ordered two to give me 36 litres and two of the rack-mounted holders. It is less expensive than my current arrangement.

Only one problem so far: I don't have a new Defender to put it on yet

Another option a few owners on the FB forum have been using is the rotopax set up, some are fitting it next to
    the side ladder

I have these on my defender and they have been excellent. I mounted them on the oem roof rack.

hot water and heavy weight up top...

wouldn't it get awfully hot up on top? heat > ^bacteria etc etc. I would put it underneath where it is cooler and the weight is lower. You won't know until it's too late how bad weight is upstairs. I personally just go for Noble's Pureau water in the blue n white carton no fear of polluted water and no need to clean out tanks. One big tank or even two is like putting all your eggs into one basket. Just buy it as you go and keep the weight down. so simple. I used to see these grey nomads dragging so much food and weight up to Darwin so they could avoid the high prices up there for fruit n veg etc. so daft. the weight is what wears things out and makes driving a burden also. If you are really using those tanks every week then they are worth it, but who does that, really?

    Sorry no.

Frontrunner still sell them but they are for 110s only.
