Electronic Brake Controller Advice - 2022 Defender

    Hello all,

I have recently purchased a 2022 Defender (it started as 2021, but took 10 months to get here). it's the 90 series D250. I added the tow pack, which does not include the tow bar (strangely enough) nor does it include a brake controller.

It turns out installing a brake controller on the new defenders is not an easy thing to do. I spoke to a 4WD specialist store who normally do these, they called the RedArc distributer and apparently there's no adapter or wiring loom for them so they won't install it. Does anyone have any recommendations for solutions in the Canberra region to get an electronic brake controller installed?

    Cheers,
    Phil.

Electronic Brake Controller Advice - 2022 Defender

Is it just for an existing caravan you have or similar? We’ve just bought 10 trailers with these fitted - Electric Brake Controller - Plug and Play Setup: Elecbrakes

They work brilliantly and no wiring is needed in the vehicle. You can plug and play the module into an existing system on a trailer or van and they are approved nationwide.

Phone app or a small remote mounted where the driver can access it for the emergency brake and adjustment and you’re away.

Couldn’t recommend them highly enough - almost none of our customers have hard wired controllers but can now tow using these - and the feedback has been great.

Our trailers are between 2400 and 3200Kg with these units on board. For the price of one of these and the loom to go with it you’d be hard pressed to get one wired into your vehicle and you don’t have to worry about a 4WD shop who knows nothing about Land Rovers ****ing with your pride and joy.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

welcome to the group and installing a redarc tow pro elite is relatively easy, two cables, one that connects into a socket by the accelerator on
the Defender using a standard TPH-006 harness, a few cable clips to hold the controller in place and a connection to the control switch which
usually goes into the spare area by the EPB. Look up Tate Needhams post on the "Australian all new defender owners group" on the book of faces,
he goes through it in pictures.. he is also from Canberra..
