Maybe it is as simple (complicated) as Buyer's Remorse conflated with potential Seller's Remorse...the psychology is interesting especially looking at the responses. All sorts of cognitive dissonance, desire to reinforce self worth and affirming of personal beliefs.

Sorry for the late delay replying.
After having owned a D3 & a D4 for a combined Travels around this Great Country of ours of over 400k kilometers, I reckoned that the New Defender had a lot to live up to.
I had been waiting with great expectations for the New Defender to turn up & Land Rover really stretched the years out before releasing the new one on the waiting Faithfull.
What am I disappointed about? Well, I blame it on the Disco's I have had for all those years.
The Defender has a lot of new Hi Tech stuff, & I don't mind that, But one thing it hasn't got is storage room. I reckon the people who designed the D3 & D4 weren't even consulted when another Mob started on the Defender.
No storage Bins, No little handy nooks & Crannies to store stuff, Rear storage area only just fits an Engel in with the back door closed, & then it takes half the storage area in the back!
The Rear seat folds down in a way that itself takes up room, unlike the Disco's brilliant setup and there's more storage under & around those seats in the Disco.
No Complaints on Performance & economy, but not a great gain on the D4. for myself & the Cook, it's a little harder to get in & out of. Not bad, but all these things keep adding up. Clamshell Bonnet.......
I did not realize how much we miss not having a Tailgate, and I know the Spare on the Disco was not an ideal setup, but Jeez, I can't even lift the Spare on the Fender!!!
Yeah!, I am Disappointed with it, & in a Quandary whether to keep it, or sell it on & get one of the last D4s made.

In fairness I have looked at a number of new 110s and other than the price... The only thing that puts me off is the storage space and boot size, we simply could not manage with a vehicle like that.
If we were towing a caravan all the time that would change things considerably, but we aren't, so the car has to carry a heap of things.
It's basically the only downfall from my perspective, but it would be a problem.

As for the tailgate - fair point. I assume they did the rear door as a heritage design. If they do a door - the D4 guys don’t like it. If they do a tailgate - the Defender guys say “it’s a Defender, it needs a door with a spare not a Disco”.
Pluses and minuses in both I think.
The same reasons we didn't go the Defender,main reason was there was not enough room in the rear cargo area.And lack of aftermarket accessories.Quote:

There is no doubt that I'll be scaling back. My current Defender is filled with stuff I have forgotten I had...things that might be useful one day.
I'm often saying to people who need something "I probably have one of those in the back of the Land Rover".
In future they'll have to bring their own "something".
As Oscott says, the 130 doesn't look right.
I'm not sure which way I will go yet. Part of me says suck it up & work on it, (especially after waiting 10 mths to get it) and then something says get a D4 again. Dunno!

The only thing I'm thinking on the 110 vs 130 looks, is that the 110 looks amazing in photos, but in real life they look a bit short, maybe the 130 will look better in real life than it does in pics?
Has anyone actually seen one in the flesh, I wasn't aware they were actually available yet...
I had a work van, a small van, which had the spare underneath and it was not at all user friendly. Who ever designs these things never uses them in the real world. It is all very well to test something under factory conditions but real life usage is a different ball game. With all of the crud and dirt that collects below a vehicle, not to mention off road crap, just adds to the misery of changing a wheel on a wet day. Trying to refit a wheel in the cradle beneath the van was even worse than getting it off the cradle. The door mounted spare may not be ideal but it is straight forward to remove/refit. If I were in the market for a new vehicle an underbody mounted spare would weigh against my choice of vehicle.
