True, but when you pay over $100k for an appliance, you expect it to work properly. The Air Suspension and Overheating glitches could both be showstoppers. If I saw the temp needle pegged I sure as **** wouldn't "turn the heater on full blast and limp it home". I'd pull over, stop and investigate. Probably on the side of the freeway in peak hour traffic or in the middle of nowhere, with no coverage to get an "OTA update".

Not catastrophic, but typical of the Landrover quality **** show that we as owners just "accept".

    Not me, i moved on,40,000Km,2 yrs,not a single issue.The sons 76,80,000Km,3 yrs,same,not one issue.
Huge difference to the D4 i had, and the Puma he had.

I actually went through the fat D4 file in the office a while ago, before hurling it in the bin,it had 11 issues in the first 18months,plus more as it aged.
Two LR didnt ever sort,an annoying dash rattle, and fuel burn dash readout way out of calibration.

Four or five issues for an LR,in the first 12 months, probably is not too bad,so maybe they are getting better?
Pity they are not keeping it for another year,or two,and then reporting back.

    New Defender owner here… 45,000km - 13 months.

    ZERO issues…

Yes there were some issues with the earlier cars, but what brand doesn’t have issues?

Ranger (gearboxes), Hilux (DPF), Prado (injectors), Isuzi (body cracks), etc, etc.

Unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world - but LR aren’t the only manufacturers with issues….

The problem for Land Rover is psychological, not mechanical.

Statistically and anecdotally at least on Facebook, there are plenty of "long-term" owners with no issues....it's just that internet intelligence thrives on scare stories and bad news.

If TFL did a YouTube post: "our Land Rover is faultless" they'd not get a view which would defeat the reason for them posting videos.....follow the money!

The other aspect is that having heard whispers and gossip taken in good authority that Land Rovers are unreliable (whatever that means?) because a friend of a cousin whose ex-wife's uncle had a Land Rover wouldn't start one day, people automatically take the one case as universal.

No brand is immune from not starting one day.

But hey let's revel in the myth...it makes us feel better about our decision to buy something else.

It's called "Confirmation Bias"....if you are happy with your purchase whether it be a Land Rover or something else then good on you.
