    Tyre pressure monitor

    Gudday all.
Just had my first flat tyre on my 2024 Defender!
Have put on the spare but reading the manual it says I need a tyre pressure monitoring kit if the tyre is changed. Does this apply to getting the tyre repaired?
Please excuse my ignorance, and we have had a D2 and aD4 previously!

Most systems that come with vehicles out of the factory have the TPM in the valve stem. Put on a tyre without a TPM sender unit on it and your vehicle will give you alerts/alarms that the changed tyre isn't reading on the system.

This happened on my EV a few months ago. Fortunately only for about 15km until the flat tyre was replaced and put back on the vehicle.
    Cheers, Dale

I guess if they are careful the original valve stem can remain

The car has sensors on all 5 wheels. Just change the wheel and the TPMS works out what is where.
You would only need a new sensor if somehow the original was damaged or lost.
The tyre repair place is used to this and have not mentioned anything about a special kit needed.
I've had 3 punctures on the soft 'offroad' tyres that came with the car.

    That explains a lot.
I’m 40,000 klicks into the original tyres, we live on a farm and apart from our 1.5 km entrance don’t do too much off-roading!
Just found the leak, small round hole generously supplied by a local tradie!
As an aside I absolutely love my Defender goes like **** off a shovel, better than the D4, but could do with a better turning circle!

Yep, love the car and so much more that the 3.0L D4 prior. Just started towing a caravan for the first time and it's effortless.
50k so far on the original Wrangler tyres and as I said 3 punctures. They've done ok in the high country and Flinders Ranges but looking forward to the security of a proper tyre. Looking at Wildpeak AT4 in 265/60R20.

One annoying thing about the TPMS is you only have 2 pre-configured settings. Surely a real offroad vehicle would have a custom setting as well for lower pressures. It would only be software
