Great watch. Need to check, but apart from the Rexton, the Defender is yhe only other monocoque design, all others are still ladder chassis design, hence the flex in the body, as its actuslly a stressed member in the L663 platform, so perhaps not a totally fair comparison.

Great to see the effortless way that defender tackled the challenges, the roller test especially impressive, got up the hill even with all 4 wheels on rollers. Big nod to LR engineers for their Terrain Response II

He tested this a couple of tears ago and it wasn't apparent at that test. it could easily be the latch alignment.

True, and besides, I don't think body stiffness is a high criteria on most people's list. They have the right ANCAP rating anyways. Just love seeing the TRII in action on our cars. There was a USA video shortly after the L663 came out where they took one through some major bogs and muddy rutted tracks, was impressive then how these cars find traction. Think it was on one of the aftermarket websites. Can't remember which one.

It was nearly pipped overall by a vehicle around half it's price.

The Defender also had a huge advantage having both a rear and center diff lock, not to take away from the brilliant way the engineers have it all sorted.

It would have been interesting to see the two Toyotas in Crawl Control, which works very well.

And 1/3rd the weight too. Was funny to see the Toyos and Pootrol even struggle to get onto the flex test, let alone the roller and hill climbs. These manufacturers are worlds behind when it comes to active, constant traction control.

But it is really apples and oranges, they are comparing vehicles with center diff locks off, which is a waste of time, others with no rear diff lock, and find ones with both center and rear outperform the others.

No real surprise at all,and nothing to really crow about.
