    Oldest Discovery

I have a couple of series land rovers but am getting interested in The Discovery. I had one years ago and am thinking of getting another. I like the idea of a really old one. When did the Discovery come to Australia? Do 1989 3 door models come onto the market in Australia? Does anyone on the forum own one and what are their experiences? many thanks Scott

I have got a 3 door built date 6/91 505.jpg Personally i prefer to drive it above any other vehicle i have access to. I am one to keep things original but as i do use this vehicle in 4x4 situations, i have found that i am needing to upgrade/modify a number of things. Those being adding some lift (2 in tough dog shocks and springs) Removed 55 mm out of the guard arch and added bolt on flares. Pushed the wheel centers out and spun the standard rims to create off set. 6.jpg Added 32in mtr Wrangler kevlar tires etc. As things move along i have found in reasonably heavy 4x4ing i have recently been let down by the standard drive line, that being disintegrating the standard rear differential center to which i intend to replace that with an aftermarket air locker and axle upgrade.

The only reason i would want a pre-update d1 would be so it could go on club plates, the post 94 vehicles are so much better in every respect.

I got a post update 95 after looking for a pre 3 door. Couldn't find one.

The 95 updated dash has curled in the sun and it has ancient airbags armed to do god knows what. So I'm not convinced it's any better than pre update

The pre update was 200tdi (if looking at diesel) which is a great old motor.

3 door for the rarity makes it quite attractive.

I also have a 95 four door as well and i have no interest in being able to drive it at all. Truth is i intend to pull the motor out, fit it in the 93 and wreck the rest of it out. So if you need any parts, yell out

Ive got a '93 disco 1 that I bought in '08 with only 136k on the clock from the original owner. I've only put 40,000km on it since then - it has to be one of the lowest km discos going around

    love the old girl.

    I loved my 93 Rossi,,

I'd never had a LR before that so the whole dash thing with the grab handle was great.. Loved the single spoke wheel with the big LR badge. I even loved the way it rolled around corners,, and the way its feet kept touching ground when asked.
