If you were to buy a Defender, why wouldn't you specify the rear e-diff regardless of having seen the video or not?

I can understand that attitude for probably most RR and RRS buyers and a lot of D4/D5 buyers but can't fathom why someone would buy a Defender without it unless the person doesn't have an appreciation of the benefit.

I agree - but then how many people have put in ARB lockers in the front and rear of their D3/D4 - very few on here as most think the extra capability over standard TC is not worth it.

There is another reason and that is cost.
Not i don't mean the cost of the e locker but the cost of the car.
The D5 HSE i bought was a MY19 stock car & the dealer wanted to get it sold.
It was nearly $30k less than if i had ordered the same car in which would have been MY20 by the time it arrived.

I’ve just taken delivery of a Defender 2020 1st edition with the factory “Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking” which was about an extra grand. However I can find very little on how it works. LR has put info out there on what it does but not how it does it. What is different mechanically about this $1k option compared to the standard e-diff? It is claimed to be an active rather than passive/reactive “diff” like pure electronic traction control but just how does it work?
kinda flummoxes me when you pay for an accessory but don't know how to use it.......
All the systems on the new Defender are just an evolution of systems introduced in the D3 in 2004 - the e-diff in the new Defender is just an update of the optional e-diff in the D3 works the same basic way just better .
