Well here is my abridged/short version of what I tried to upload yesterday, but by pressing the wrong button I lost the lot and the plot;):p.
I was sitting quietly at the back door yesterday having a Port n Coke in good company (Poodle Patrol) when I realised that restoring 113-372 has taken me longer than 114-194.
I started this project on 9th January 2010, here it is 1st August 2011 and it is still not complete. I knew the weather had played a large part in the hold ups, as I'm working on 113-372 outside in the weather:(.
The first holdup was I got the run around trying to secure this bulkhead, it is located some 900+k's from my home, many phone calls to n fro, after 3 months I gave up, it would have made life very easy if I could have secured it

anyway my next move was with Justin P aka Master Chief, but due to a unforseen problem (with the b/head) that Justin had for sale, that went by the wayside also. Then there was the chase up into the Nth west of the state only to be let down again, by unrealistic prices for scrap Land Rovers. Just when I thought there was no where else to look, along came a solution and I purchased 2 B/heads just to be sure.
Then out of the blue my 110 had an issue with the Transmission, and out of action for almost 2 months,

this stopped me dead, because I was unable to get large items down to Heatherbrae to the grit blasters.
Between the weather and my 110 now off the road because of engine failure, this has been a protracted drawn out job.
Anyway enough of the excuses, I had done a salvage job on the existing wheel cylinders on 113-372, and I thought they could be OK, but the time since I did that job and now, well you guessed it, the rear wheel cylinders leaked, and because I was on the net doing some CPD to keep my job, the leaking brake fluid did a job on the inside of the wheel rims, by eating the DBG, this was fixed the next day, but again it was a job that I didn't need

On Saturday morning (got ahead of myself there for a minute LOL) I had to remove all the wheel cylinders and get them down to East Maitland so they could be shipped off today Monday to be relined in S/Steel, well Saturday morning around 0700hrs it was -2c here and my fingers were complaining, anyway I made it and got the parts where they needed to be, hopefully have them back Thursday and be $250.00 lighter, well at least I won't have any more brake issues, here is 113-372 two days ago, look at the vigilant Poodle Patrol!!:p

Sunday dawned bright n clear, so I mixed some more DBG and sprayed a few items, including this front convoy light I bought off ebay from a seller in Malaysia, now he advertised them as NOS, well this one certainly wasn't, I hadn't taken it out of it's plastic wrap since buying it, it had rust & dirt all through it, so my apologies to anyone who bought SUS items from him on my recommendation.

All, I had a similar problem with the convoy (front Tac light on the Driver's side Guard) Light on my Landy. The trick with these is to take the whole light apart including the innards and sand blast the whole light housing. Next you tape the inside of the light with masking tape. Using fibreglass and resin you can fill up the small rust pits. Welding it with a mig is impossible as you dont have any thickness in the metal to do the job. So I 'glassed the inside, then sanded it and replaced the inner reflector with one salvaged from a similar light (could even be a hella one:cool:). To make up a whole light.
Make sure you get the little grommet in the back to fit snugly otherwise the light will quickly fill with water & you will be pulling the light apart again to repair it. and refit the front gasket and seal it with a smear of black silastic if its not a good seal.
The fellow in Malaysia is probably selling stuff off Land Rovers which were at Butterworth in the 1970's! One wonders how he got the parts.:(

The system crashed yesterday afternoon not long after I posted, and whatever I wrote went west:), so here I am going to write it again, I wouldn't know anything about how to with websites:(, it does look complicated.
I picked up my brake wheel cylinders last Thursday, I had them relined in S/Steel to the tune of $264.00, and what with things I had to do for work on the net and face to face, mow the lawn before the rain (raining now:mad:) and with the good wife heading off to Hawaii Tuesday 10/8 for 8 days I have been flatout trying to get the time to refit these wheel cylinders, Sophie (pictured) is a good helper NOT she will pinch nuts n bolts, wheel nuts, anything that you have had in your hands, if your not watching it will dissappear:(

she isn't alone the 3 other little ones are just as bad, she does like to get on your chair at every opportunity as you can see!!.
It took approx 3 1/2 hours to refit all the wheel cylinders, brakes & road wheels, let it down off the axle stands, thats Jesse checking me out, she doesn't do anything wrong.

This morning I went to the local auto A1 shop and bought a meter of electrical cable to use with the front convoy light, as it was raining I just thought do something quick n simple and stay dry, anyway I connected it and put it back together, thats something else that needs to be kept on the bench:(

after finishing that quick task, and as it was still raining, I turned my attention to the windscreen wiper motors, I started to strip one of them down and grit blast the end covers

and as usual some parts come apart/unscrew meaning more work in the end, but patience prevails (Liar Liar:mad::wasntme::p) eventually it all came to pieces and was clean inside, will need regrease though

then etch prime and top coat in 'Aluminium', the steel end plate needs a small repair, I will have braze one of the captive bolts it is loose

after I have brazed it I will do the other cover and mix a small amount of Gloss Black and paint them both, anyway thats about me for the next 2-3 days, I'm being admitted to hospital in the morning for surgery, anyway cheers Dennis:angel:

Well I survived, very sore this morning in several places, but I'm determined not to waste any more time than I already have, yesterday was a write off.
I took these pix yesterday morning (early) this is what I have planned for today, seeing that it's difficult to bend over etc, I'm going to continue stripping/cleaning/grit blasting/painting small parts off the 2 windscreen wipers.
I found my spare parts section pertaining to wipers there are 7 in this box

in varying states of disrepair as you can see, I have an Ace up my sleeve though, as this box has a NOS wiper motor

A minor setback last evening, bleeding from wound:(:mad:, bloody sore to boot, anyway dressing changed this morning hopefully no more blood loss:angel:
That procedure has sure slowed me down, I still cannot bend over to pick anything up it's a PIA (well abdomen LOL), I have managed to grit blast and prime/paint 4 articles, 2 gearbox covers off the windscreen wipers, this cover was on a wiper motor that was originally fitted to 'Chloe' it had a few 24V electrical fittings and some horrible stuff that had been sprayed onto the bulkhead but thats another story

whiel I was waiting for those covers to dry, I dismantled the choke cable/mount assembly, washed it up in petrol, hose off air dry then grit blast, etch prime/paint Gloss Black

I cleaned and painted the choke barrel/outer wire cable and painted it Silver, tomorrow I will re-assemble it all and fit to 113-372 anyway cheers Dennis:angel:
ps It's awfull quiet here, with swmbo in Hawaii, your not going to believe this, I had a webcam on at that famous statue of the "surfer bloke' while looking at the camera, my wife and her friend walked in to read the inscription on the statue, so I rang her mobile phone, and asked them 'where are you now' at the statue she said, well I said you had better wave to me because I'm looking at you both, what a coincidence!!!!
