G'day All,
I wish they were bullets, anyway bullet connectors. This afternoon I changed all the connectors on the new front lights park/turn signal, as the connectors were not a good fit into the new loom, they had a habit of falling out:o, so I cut them off

the picture is out of focus sorry, but you get the idea, I had already removed the connectors off short bits of the original loom

next trick was to resolder them on the shortened length of wire, route it all up and secure it so it's out of harms way

ps but I have to fix the mistake in the morning!!, the connectors are supposed to be inside the engine bay LOL,,.

This morning I had to move Land Rovers around in what 'Carzee' nicknamed 'Operation Rubics Cube'.
I needed to move 113-372 from the carport as that space is needed soon, today is the first really good break in the lousey weather we have been experiencing, so the plan was put into effect at 0920hrs, Poodle Patrol were secured, and vehicles were moved, here are a few pix of 113-372 out in the open

Stephen, mate thank you for your concern, I'M OK just way to many other things happening that are stopping me from doing what I want to do:D I'm hoping to have 113-372 registered before Anzac Day 2012, I need two find a good upholsterer? To have my seats refurbished, still a few minor items that need touching up.
I had to move 113-372 under cover which makes it difficult to work on, and I'm currently dismantling another Land Rover for parts, that's what is taking my time + work etc, anyway mark my words I'm missing doing small jobs on it, but I will be back into soon, cheers and Thank you Dennis:angel:

For what it's worth, there's a good upholsterer here. I don't know if they've done cars, but we've had a couple of chairs done by them & been very happy. Bit far from you though. I can ask if they can suggest / recommend someone down your way if it may help?

I needed to find a source of good quality rear shock absorbers for 113-372.
I remembered that I helped my son-in -law (about 1 1/2years ago) change his suspension in their Nissan Patrol, I kept the rear shock absorbers, because they looked like they could come in handy for some-one down the track. They were not worn out, he just wanted something better??, the shocks are Gabriel Blue Riders (gas I think??).
Anyway at the time, I checked and Land Rover suspension bushes fitted the top eyes of the spring, the bottom has a rubber bush with a steel insert to fit just like a Land Rover, anyway from memory the early Nissan patrol was a Jap copy of the Series 2A, I have seen a early Nissan with S2A doors fitted!!.
Well today I checked the bottom bush, it was just a whisker too small to fit the mounting pin (lower), so I set about fixing that issue, I miked it up and set an adjustable reamer to the diameter of the lower pin, and reamed it,

and it fitted like the proverbial finger, as you can see

I still needed to doctor the lower bush, as it was just a tad too wide, so I used a flap disc sander to remove the excess steel, they now fit perfectly, I suppose the proof is in the riding, that will just have to wait for now, cheers Dennis.

Man, I'ave seen a workbench like that one in my home workshop. It's hard to find time to clear it, when you do, some one comes along & put goods on it, like laver, its covered again. Best just leave it. As the saying goes, wheres the spanner, the CRC, the vice, On the bench.

After a late start today, I have managed to do a few jobs on 113-372.
I'm trying to get it on historic rego asap, so today I thought I'd better clamp the bonnet.
It took me some time to realise that I hadn't taken the articles of the old bonnet, I found them after about 45 minutes looking for them, they were hiding behind 2 Land Rovers

it was well hidden, anyway it didn't take long to have them off, wire brushed the Electrolysis off the underside of them, and placed the RHS one in position, marked it out and drilled the 1/4" hole to accept the 1/4" Csk slot head screw, I used 1/4"BSW that was all I could get locally, I thought I had ordered 4 extra of the mild steel bolts when I purchased the same bolts to hold the hoodsticks together, anyway the first hole,

and in no time at all I had the second hole drilled, the 2 bolts cut to the required length,

then over to the LHS and repeat the operations, again the first hole is always the hardest,

you can see the pencil outline I used to line the bronze hook with the clamp, anyway all was completed without a hitch,

next job was to mix a small amount of of DBG, I used 30mls paint, 30mls thinners & 25mls hardener, stir well n spray, I will now have to wait approx 24 hrs and they will be rock hard, all 10 bolts (4x 1/4" BSW n nuts etc + 6 x 2BA Csk slot head screws, flat washers spring washers all in DBG), anyway that was my short day, cheers Dennis:angel:

I don't where the time goes:eek:, well I was away for a 4 day break last weekend, a few jobs to catch up on + work, but today I managed to knock over a few small jobs.
I had fitted the shock absorbers but I didn't have any split pins or heavy washers, somehow I remembered that I bought a heap of 1/4" OD split pins some years ago, lo n behold they were still where I put them, so I grabbed 3

they had to be shortened and shaped to suit (like the short one)

then I painted them flat black, so they blend in with everything else

I didn't have any washers to suit, so I went to the local hardware store first, but they didn't have anything bigger than 5/8" dia hole, I needed 3/4", so I trundled along to B******s, they had piles of 3/4" thick washers, @ 58c ea, I bet if they knew they fitted Land Rovers the price would quadruple;):p, anyway they were also etch primed and painted

while I have been waiting for the items to dry, I fitted up the drip rails over the doors, then fitted the tilt, it's starting to look like a Land Rover now, although in the picture above you can see I still need to fit the wiper motors:(
