    Productive but frustrating day!!
    G'day All
Again the weather has been pretty good, I've had a productive day but frustrating as well!!.
I rubbed the bonnet back after getting advice from my mate Craig, and I resprayed it, so far so good, about 2 hours into the drying time I went and had a look at the bonnet, an insect had landed and struggled along making a back to front question ? mark in the paint, then I noticed on one of the edges that I had a run, well so be it, I'm not doing this again.
As anyone who has restored a vehicle, will know there is always something to do, so not to waste any paint, I cleaned the brush bar of its Olive Drab paint,
    http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/u...rushbar001.jpg
loose n flakey as it was, etch primed it, then mixed the DBG for the jobs.
I put the bar on its side, so I could paint the underside first and give it time to harden, then stood it upright and painted it all over, swmbo checked to make sure I hadn't missed anything (I had!!)
    http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/u...rushbar002.jpg
that looks like MMMMMM'm Gunbuggy MMM'm LOL and 2 wings in DBG.
While this was all happening, I scrounged through my collection of nuts n bolts screws etc, for the round head slot screws 1/4"UNF that hold the drip rails to the hoop set, these have special nuts (self clamping??) that dont require spring washers, anyway the threads were all cleaned with tap n die, then grit blasted etch primed etc >> DBG later in the day
    http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/u...tscrews001.jpg
the round heads cleaned, slot tidied up with a cut from a hacksaw and small file
    http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/u...tscrews002.jpg
after grit blasting and before etch priming etc, also in this handfull are the 8 x 2BA screws that hold the spare tyre blocks x 4 on the bonnet

    http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/u...tscrews004.jpg
after all these were painted whatever colour that they needed to be, I cleaned the spray gun, ready for another go at something else tomorrow.
After tea tonight, I started to put items back onto 113-372, in an effort to reduce the pile of parts that I have painted and hanging about all over the place, my spray painting mate said to me I'm not doing to bad for a amateur, and thats what I am

    anyway cheers Dennis

    Subversive activity Foiled!!!!! LOL

    G'day All,
Today Australia Post delivered a suspicious package, the 'Poodle Patrol' were straight onto it, all sitting looking at it and wagging their tails!!!, swmbo announced it was a package for 'Max' aka Diggers sleeper here at 1/19 BOD.
He confessed after pawsing to think about detention etc and confessed that Digger had promised him things that he only dreamed about, if he laid low and kept him informed of the status of the MMMMM Gunbuggy MMMMM, here he is being questioned by his peers about the contraband

after a full confession, bless me father etc etc and sharing the booty

Digger, Max asked to me say publicly Thank You and Merry Christmas!
Meanwhile, I managed to do a few things over the past few days, what with work etc and the weather, the windscreen frame recieved it's top coat of DBG, here's a picture of it hanging on the clothes line (good ole Hill's Hoist) with the leader of the pack 'Charli' framed

I've just had to move the windscreen frame as a storm is about to hit
after going into Clark rubber at East Maitland this morning, I bought a metre of insertion rubber 100mm wide and 2mm thick, I have used this for the rubber backing that is needed behind the lights, they are not available anywhere that I know of, so the next step was to make them.
After marking the rubber out the outside diameter was cut using scissors, then the hole marked to allow the light to fit through the rubber gasket

I used a 5/8" wad punch to allow me to cut the smaller diameter hole in the middle of the gasket, marking out the 2 small holes to mount the light

picture out of focus (SORRY) but I'm sure you get the idea, anyhow this is it fitted into the tub,

looks OK doesn't it, now to make some more gaskets, cheers Dennis
ps Thanks Digger for the chewy things LOL Max and the 'Poodle Patrol' loved them,,.

    Hi Dennis

Give Brian @ Land Vehicle Spares a try, in September I picked up 2 new ones with screws (Not in box) and new blinker lens with screws ( in boxes ) They were pricey ( Brake lens all red no white )
    Large Brake lens (part 545812040 @ $16.50 ea )
    Large Blinker Lens ( part 54570410 @ $ 19.80 ea )

    Regards
    Mike

    Mate,

I bought some dye for the inside of lenses. It comes in Red and Amber. It is called 'Brush On Lens and Bulb Dye'.

I failed a rego with the old 4Runner I used to have because the left tail light was nearly clear. 2 coats of the dye and it looked brand new. In fact, it made the right one look faded and tawdry - so I did that one too. Sailed through the recheck.

I used it again on tail lights for the hard top Landy. I had two lenses but both had the clear bit on the bottom for the numberplate light. 2 coats of dye covered the clear lens perfectly.

It comes in a 13ml container. Last time I mentioned a source on here my post was moderated so, if you want to know where I got it from, PM me.

    Cheers,
