Top Job Dennis!
I bought door seals for a S3 from Paddock about a month ago, along with all the other seals for the cab. Don't know if they are what you need, but I searched their site using part numbers rather than descriptions,
Cheers Charlie
G'day All,
Well it ain't over just yet, it has to pass inspection next weekendI hope it will be just a formality.
I still have to do door tops x 2, still tossing up whether to use a couple of good S/hand ones I have, or use the NOS that I bought about 7 years ago from Andersons @ Pialba, Qld.
This afternoon I ratted out some small fittings that I bought from Blanchards about 2 years ago, to remake a Vac/advance tube Distributor<<>>Carburettor, it was a fiddley job using my fat boy burner
I couldn't see the flame outside, so I had to move it all inside the shed so I could adjust it to a weak flame, anyway it all worked out well ( I hope!!)
the proof will be in the tightening up, also must remember to put something on the thread, I dont want it growing into the NOS carburettor.
Now to answer a couple of questions,
Juddy,, door sealing rubbers,, I tried several well known suppliers in the UK all told me that the genuine articles were no longer available, so I used what I could get from Clark rubber, and no the door sealing rubbers are the same on Series 2/2A all over the globe, nothing unique to Oz,, juddy may I ask where you got yours from???
Digger,, Yes & Yes, the 2 x 5 pointed stars will be replaced asap, and the bottle opener has been replaced with a genuine Coca-Cola one that I bought from the USA, now this is my assumption, they would have fitted one way back then, if they could have got their hands on one!! LOL, hopefully 113-372 will make this years Anzac Day parade.
Rednjoey, mate I'm really sorry that your going to miss my posts re 113-372, please dont start a collection to buy me something else, as what you can find on the net regarding my Land Rovers has cost me 12 years of my life, I think I need to spend more time driving them (and my 110) rather than working on them LOL, as we all know (or should know, It's Never Over, In a Land Rover) Gee if only I was 20 years younger
Mary aka Mallefowl thanks for the compliments, but as I've always stated I'm just a mug who doesn't recognise that what I've done is good enough!!
Mrs H & co well I am rather surprised that I had pipped you at the 1/2 way mark LOL, I think I said in a post somewhere that if I had the work area and the helping hands that front up at your place at times, it would have been finished a long time ago,LOL I also acknowledge that you n Harry have a 101and have transformed it along with your daily runner (S3) anyway "it ain't quite over yet"
cheers Dennis
PS Yes it does have OIL in the gearbox & transfer caseand everywhere it's supposed too as well!!! and I do have Oxygen/Acetylene but it's getting damn expensive to use on small jobs,,.

G'day All,
Today I fitted the vac/advance tube, and wouldn't ya know it, 113-372 wouldn't start after I had fitted it!!, turns out it was low on petrol LOL
panic panic.
Anyway after that little episode, I gave it a quick wash trying to get all the melaluca leaves out/off it, bloody nuisance those trees. A short clip with the engine running using my Go-Pro camera

I think I will need to adjust the brakes or the brake master cyl, as it's hard to push with dragging brakes, still some fittings to go together inside, fingers XXX'd for tomorrow arvo @ 1600hrs, cheers Dennis![]()
WOW - more inspiration! (I have spent the day working on a mates Series 1).
Fingers crossed for you but I suspect you will just sail through.
Dennis,
You will need to reverse into a few things on the test drive to get the cookie cutters looking like originals.. They are straighter than the NOS ones I have in the shed
Good work,
Ian
Hi Dennis
That Landy still needs a couple of things;
A swag roll in the back.
Roll of maps behind the seat.
A plywood tucker box with a can opener fastened inside it's lid.
Portable AM transistor radio (optional).
Gold panning dish.
Then the driver needs some serious time out.

This is certainly one of the most enjoyable threads I've had the pleasure to read on a rover's restoration. For those interested in a similar read, I'd like to suggest a Lightweight restoration in the US.

Dinty, I don't recall you talking much about the canvas hood. Is this style of hood with the covers for the side windows still available for purchase? Are there actual clear windows, or are they simply a square hole?
Thanks,
Brett
G'day All,
Brett, what I have is a standard ex-military canvas cover, it has rectangular holes, no clear plastic in them, the one fitted to 113-372 was manufactured by Mulder industries Victoria Australia.
I'm of to work now 0515hrs, 113-372 passed it's inspection yesterday, now all I need to do is pay the fee to the RTA maybe Tuesday, and then we can break out of the yard LOL, cheers Dennis
Ps thank you all for the compliments,,.
