Thanks all for the feed back. After cleaning it out and removing the old canvas , I gave it a big degrease and water jet blast . My first impression that it had lots of chassis rust turned out to be flaking black paint many many coats of it . chassis is great condition as is the rest of it , almost had it going too, but battery ran out of puff . any how its going on the back burner as I've picked up a 53 series 1 80" that is closer to running than the S2 .

G'day Dockstrada
It would appear that you have a vehicle from the first contract,Contract No. C104337 which was signed on the 16-12-1958,the first vehicles were not delivered until 1959 about (March from memory) these Landrovers were the first to replace the Austin Champs,as they were simpler, cheaper, and easier to maintain than the Rolls-Royce B40 powered Champs, this Contract for 50 vehicles, was the first of many to follow, only recently being replaced by the Mercedes vehicles.
I used to have 110-379,but wrecked it out in 1997,chassis broke in half from rust (ex Dept.of Civil Aviation) it was used to launch and retrieve crash boats at Brisbane airport, reverse the boat into the water as far as possible, and if chassis gets a salt water bath, to bad,it had a side/overhead motor (overhead inlet, side exhaust) which was quite good which I sold to somebody rebuilding an 86 inch Series 1.
In those days neither Chassis replacement parts/Chassis were not available from Landrover Aust.
cheers

Just to add to this I have acquired another :) Command Recon Truck 1/4 ton 143901296
C104337

It has been on a next door property for ages, was originally from the Brisbane Valley and when the owners sold there and came up here it came with them. Is mostly original . got a homemade roof. Will stick up pics later on.
Cheers Scott
