    Chassis Number Location

    OK Gurus,

have just picked up a S2A ex Aust Army & looking for the Chassis number at F RH Spring Hnager but could not find it. Am I looking in the wrong place? Also is the engine number adjacent to the water pump on the 4 cyl engine.

    Cheers & TIA

The chassis number is only on the front RH spring hanger on vehicles produced in the UK.

Australian Assembled series Land Rovers have their number on the rear LH spring shackle chassis bracket.

Engine number is on the LH of block just in front of the exhaust manifold. I guess that's near the water pump.

    Chassis Number

Thanks Lotza land Rovers - found it & have looked at the REMLR site to commence establishing the history of this baby. It is reasonable condition, with little rust, but the GB is not selecting a gear & the clutch pedal is pretty soft. have ordered parts for the carby (rebuild kit) & other minor bits. Week after next i will start in earnest, drop the oils etc & start to see what real condition it is in. I will replace the wheel cyls, looking at replacing the clutch/brake MCs + slaves. then a battery to get it going. It has been running but not for several months.

    Cheers,

    Barra
