hi i am breaking a militry s3 will check tomorrow for you jim
Hey all,
can anyone share a pic of how the 16 gallon tank mounts at the front? I know the outrigger gets cut off and moved to the bulkhead outrigger, which I'm in the process of doing, but the inner bolt hole is flush against the bottom of the outrigger. Do the military installs just leave this bolt out, or is there some other fancy solution?
Cheers,
Adam

I'm interested to know this too, I have 2 16 gal tanks but never knew how they mount at the front.

oh wow that's a lot lower than I thought! Thanks
Seems to depend on the tank....
Checked the FFR (the IIa is twin 10 gallon tanks) and tank is higher up with only two bolts in the front bracket.
FFR tank is original, shorty tank is aftermarket but quite old. So were the aftermarket 16 gal tanks different ?? Were the military tanks different ??

ah yes that's exactly how mine looks with the tanks I have. I got mine made here in Melbourne. Could I trouble you to know if the tanks are level with the chassis at the top, in the section under the floor? Mine need to sit about 20mm proud and then the mounting rail is in that same position as your second lot of pics. It looks as though they just omit the inner bolt, which is what I was thinking of doing.

Had a quick look, well feel really.
The piece of the tank under your feet is level with the top of the outrigger on the shorty.
I would think if you offered your tank up and attached the rear mount, when the tank sits level it will dictate the position of the front mount.
Front is bolted direct and rear uses a rubber mount, easy to take a picture if needed.

No pics needed, that's all the info I require, thanks. I was thrown off because the 16 gallon tanks I had made sit much lower than the OEM 10 gallon ones and I had assumed that the extra volume was just the part under the floor. It was tricky working out what was 'level' because my driveway isn't level, but I've now taken a bunch of measurements so it should be close to right.
