Peel CP30 gas switch controller box

    Hi folks,

I have had LPG fitted to my Disco1 V8 for 4 years now.

On my way home from Brisbane the other day it started cutting out on petrol and sometimes would not run at all.

I have just now traced it back to the little black box that amongst other things cuts power to the injectors when on LPG.

The internal relay measured ok with a multimeter however the car would run when I bridged the wires it should be switching and would stop when I removed the bridge.

So for the short term I have connected a 30 amp horn relay to the injector wires and controlled it with a switched positive and used the black box's internal relay to control that positive and therefore the new relay.

So the real question is are the Peel CP30s known to give trouble and is there something better out there to use?

The reality is that unless these little boxes are cheap I imagine my short term fix will be fairly long term so long as that little relay doesn't give up entirely although then I'll just find some other way of switching the new relay

    Thanks

I've used a few Peel's but don't like them as they have no waterproofing at all. I prefer the Apexus one myself, CO202 from memory. Around $40-50, any gas installer should be able to supply one. Gastec do one too, not as good but OK.

Thanks. I'll look into it in the new year.
