Hi
I asked a gas conversion place about the MAF and he said they usually knock out the screen to get it tuned better because they can never get it tuned properly on both fuels so they just tune it to run best on gas.
Cheers
D'oh, I wouldn't remove one deliberately, if you can't tune it with the mesh in you shouldn't call yourself a LPG expert.:p In my experience they make virtually no difference to lpg tuning, but the MAF may or may not run well on petrol. Anyway, if your vehicle spends 99% of the time on LPG all petrol has to do is get you to the next service station. :)
usually it's after the BIG Bang you get from a back fire through the plenum to airbox, usually it blows the maf and if you are further unlucky, your airbox is blown apart.
Usually the result of poor ignition system, or it can happen if you try to switch from gas to petrol without stopping the engine 1st.
Sign of a badly set up conversion if you can't swap fuels on the go. Properly adjusted the injector cut relay has a delay that overlaps the two fuels. I sometimes demonstrate to people how you can flick backwards and forwards between the fuels, all you get is a bit of a jerky motion.
When on the go mine changes fuels without a problem,
Dont even notice the change.
