Tankwise, the general plan is to fit the biggest tank possible lengthwise on rear floor up against wheel arch. Then construct beside it one large drawer and a flat floor above both.
Hoping to fit tank 900mm long 400-450mm diameter for usable capacity of 100-120L.
This also the cheapest way, I'm told.
Silverhammer
sounds good, interested to here how much to install and pics of when it is installed because that is what i was thinking of doing.

Keep your car intune.
Renew plugs regulary. gas needs a good spark. And keep the foot away from the accelorater when starting
I was just about to spent $3,300 on a gas conversion at LPG1, when I called VPW (Vic performance wharehouse) and a bloke there put me onto Gary, at Crane Cams (Adelaide) who then told me to not waste my money, but to purchase & install a Hi-6 ignition system, as just that alone saves up to 30% fuel, due to its very clever firing sequence: upto 12 sparks under acceleration per cyl. for 20deg. crank rotation. Also coming to Australia is a new LPG system that does away with mixers & converters: If you have fuel injection, the injectors are replaced with lpg injectors (that still allow for petrol) and the gas is routed in a closed circuit. The system has been in use in europe for the last 10 years and costs a third of the current systems here in Aus.
sounds interesting, might do some more research.
The System described by Kenyan is a closed loop system. Yep hey have been around in the UK and Europe for many years.
The timing is also controlled by a dual processor that can alter the Spark Map for Petrol and can have an advanced setting for LPG as well.
There is lots of info on LPG and V8s on this site below.
They also have Donut tanks, but when checking this site years ago I notice that a lot of tanks are inside the cargo area , robbing what little room a Disco has already.

It is also interesting that the Poms pay in the 30p range for LPG, that's over a $1.per litre.
Hi all,
I have also recently purchased a V8 Disco and will convert to LPG soon.
I have been looking at using a company called Parnell at www.parnell.com.au The director their owns an LPG disco that was converted in a similar manner to the pics shown here kindly posted by Rovernaut. They charge $3000.00 and use scuba style tanks manufactured by Manchester and a convertor that I forget the name of but was Poly-something brand I think.
I am interested in the closed loop system and would wait for that if it is worthwhile. Anyone know any more? as I have had many LPG sedans in the past and the troublesome bits are the convertors! It seems that many of us are opting for LPG, I know myself and Silverhammer are!
Anyone got any further info on the HI-6 system? I have heard of these before, but considered them to be a little 'magical' due to the lack of quality testimonials.
Keep it up AULRO!
Regards
Ralph
I have a file on the LPG liquid inject closed loop system. I am happy to e-mail it to anyone interested. Just provide your e-mail with a subject title: LPG info.
Interesting reading, says that it will actually increase power & torque by 10% whereas the normal system looses 15% .
Just spoke to someone briefly about this and they said it was about $1000 more expensive 8O, not sure it is excatly the one Kenyan is talking about. Also the guy said that not much point putting this system in your car if you don't have oxgyen sensors, which mine doesn't.Quote:

A basic quote for my car :
72 gas 45 petrol, takes 2 days $3400
This the option I'll be going for :
3x Scuba tanks = total of 68lt useable $2700 fitted to inside of the car.
With 3x scuba tanks in place it comes to 230 mm high. Donnut tanks are higher and have less capacity.
Fuel excise comes in 2011 and fully implemented in 2016.
Matt.
