LPG

Seems there may be a lot of extra mark up by some eastern states fitters. Most conversions I have seen or enquired about have been between $1500-$2000 depending on fuel injection / carby / lpg only and size and amount (1-2)tanks. $3-31/2k seems a bit steep. Prices probablly went up once the govt introduced a rebate. Have a look on the www.v8engines website in the UK they show most options available for Rovers. The best I have seen is the underfloor scuba tanks, that lay flat on the floor optimising capacity and using the minimum space. Advantage of these is they have a deck (false floor) laid over the top and maximise useable load space. If you are really serious about the conversion and have an injected car you could install a Wolf or Haltech programmable dual chip ECU. This allows as you switch between fuels to use the optimum fuel map for that fuel. Downside adds about $1000-$1300 depending on unit plus installation and dyno runs.

I paid $1800 at Riverstone Gas here in Sinney but that was about 6 years ago. The conversion on my P38A was $3000 (paid by previous owner) and it's not as a good an install as the Riverstone Gas job.

The govt. rebate to which you refer only applies in WA - unfortunately.

An article in 4x4 about 5 years ago listed a typical Impco/PA fitment in a discovery as being at $2900 + additional petrol tanks if required. So the WA price would seem exceptional - almost worth driving all the way across to get it done.
