    P38 Tacho pickup

Since I installed a tornado chip in my GEMS rangie my LPG guy has said the BRC system thinks it's revving around 1500 at idle. That's bacically twice the actual idle speed, it's almost like it doesn't recognise it's a waste spark system.

It's currently hooked into the coil pack and I was wondering if anyone else had seen this or if there is a better place to pick up the Tacho signal

    Thanks
    Steve

From my memory of retrofitting Impco BRC gear you can take the rpm signal of whatever you like, and just change the parameter in the BRC software. The last time I mucked around with the software I saw and used an option for reading rpm off a petrol injector and left the rpm pickup wire off altogether. This didn't create any problems with the operation of the vehicle concerned. Just get your LPG bloke to reconfigure the rpm calibration if it bothers you.

Thanks mate, it doesn't really bother me and Alan said the only difference to him is he has to do the fuel maps manually

I just thought i would ask the experts if there was a simple reason. Though on a P38 not many things are simple

A number of things have changes since I put the tornado chip in !
