Removal of injected LPG from Disco 2

    Learned friends,

Is it safe to assume the wiring to the LPG brain can be traced back to the original harness and removed at the junctions, or are there signals running in series with the factory ECM that require re-routing back to stock configuration?

My guess (and hope) is the LPG system is all parallel. Am I wrong?

Generally the LPG ECU has inputs from a rpm sensor or ignition coil and the oxygen sensor, these can be cut off. However, to switch off the petrol injectors the vehicle wiring is either cut and soldered for the 8 injectors, or an adaptor harness is used to separate the injector plugs from the injectors. If the wires are soldered in the main loom, it's quite simple to find where the soldering was done, and trace the factory colours across the break. If neatness isn't required you can just chomp the LPG harness near the main loom and twist and solder the relevant pairs together. Each injector on your engine has a different base colour/stripe combination so not hard to do correctly. If the conversion uses an adaptor harness then it's trivial to unplug it and return to factory wiring.

So I have this right, petrol injector pulse runs from factory ECM via LPG ECU to petrol injectors, correct?

And the RPM signal is singular, correct? This simply tells the LPG ECU that the engine is running, right? Any element of timing is triggered and calculated from the factory ECM injector pulses, yes?

Thank you, bee utey. Appreciate it.

Basically correct, just remember the info I've given is based on the brands of equipment I've personally used, I haven't the foggiest idea what your system is and therefore connections may vary. Impco BRC for example can be set to run using the petrol injectors for a rpm signal, so may not even have that wire connected. RPM input can be used for a number of different parameters, eg switching over to LPG, switching back to petrol at high revs, partial petrol enhancement under load, and determining the exact position on the LPG fuel map. Oh and the LPG ECU only deals with the LPG side of things, I'm not aware of any system that talks back to the petrol ECU.

But of course if you're ripping this stuff off you don't need to know anything about what it does, just that it's safe to disconnect.
