    Can't Get P1 Pressure Down

On my BRC system the P1 pressure is supposed to be between 1800 to 2000 at idle; I can't get mine below 2100. Does that mean I've got an intake leak or is it something else?

I've replaced the convertor thinking it was the issue as it was 14 years old.

    Cheers

Is the vacuum hose connected from the converter to the inlet manifold? Does the pressure rise when you pull the hose off with the engine running? Have you adjusted the pressure via the screw on the converter? Is the engine running on gas while you take the reading?

It's never wise to throw components at a system unless you have identified an actual fault. Rebuild kits for those are much less than the cost of a replacement converter.

Yes, the vacuum hose is connected from the converter to inlet manifold bee uty.

No, it doesn't rise when I pull the hose off and I've tried adjusting it with the screw on the converter. Makes very little difference even if I screw it all the way in. it is idling on gas while I'm doing it.

I did buy a rebuild kit but unfortunately when I was taking the old one apart 4 of the little screws snapped off.

Thanks for your help bee uty.

I'm pretty sure you screw out the adjuster to reduce the pressure.

    I've tried it both ways.

I just tried again and screwing it out it keeps going up until about 2600.

Interestingly the Delta is within range (just) at about 1450.

To be honest, the best thing I ever did was rip off the Impco BRC controller from my wife's 6 cyl Merc and replace it with a new KING AEB controller instead. I retained the BRC converter and it runs 200% better now with a different set of injectors fitted as well. KING software is vastly more user friendly than old BRC. You have my sympathy persevering with that stuff.

Thanks bee uty, but that would mean another ?160 plus delivery from the UK. More thinking required as to whether I pull out the tanks and put back the petrol tank.

I must admit I am sick of trying to "tune it".

The exact one. I've bought a few for various friends wanting upgrades, have another one coming in next week. They have an impressive list of injectors they support in their selection list, not sure though if that includes the BRC ones. I had a second hand set of something else off a s/h VE kit in any case.
