    Diesel Gas Fitted

Well I finally got my 110 TDI fitted with gas. Boy, what a difference it makes. It now has some PERFORMANCE!! Not bad for a diesel. And the motor runs quieter too. If I can figure out the procedure I will post some photos later. Jim

PLeased to hear it is done. I don't suppose they did any dyno testing? Can you plese say more on performance and make sure you let us all know how the economy goes!

Does it really blow thick black smoke over the first few days while it clears out the sludgy build up?

    thanks,
    Xavier

What sort of Gas fuel consumption do you get.
Just curious as if you have to use and pay for the LPG and the oil do the running costs increase much as opposed to straight oil burning?

    Gas Fitted

The gas system fitted is the new type . Computer controlled with MAP system. It has a heat sensor on exhaust which will shut gas off if exhaust overheats. It uses an exchanger unit to convert the liquid to gas which uses heat from engine cooling system (lead to heater hose) so gas turns on after motor reaches operating temperature. The tank is a 35l unit mounted outside chassis rail under drivers seat and has a steel protector under tank. Expected figure is around 7-8 l/100k extending range of 110 defender from approx 800k / tank to around 1100 k / tank (these figures supplied by fitter) I have only used 1/4 tank of gas so far as I had a darn bird fly into my windscreen on Thurs. night and cracked it. Can't drive till Tuesday next to have a new screen fitted. The delay is caused by the severe storm through Sydney last Sunday. All windscreen fitters are run off their feet. So far there has been no noticable smoke from exhaust but I have noticed a slowing down of the drop in fuel gauge needle. Will post some pictures later (I hope) . Jim
