Matt you are more than welcome to attend, though I am not sure how you would fit a baby seat in the series 3:)

I raised the possibility of this gathering at our General Meeting last night and received quite a positive response. However, most thought that we needed a fair lead time in order for people to possibly plan a longer trip than just a weekend - no doubt, a weekend would be the main gathering but a number may wish to incorporate the weekend into a longer trip. This would mean that we could have people attending from further afield.
As far as location goes, my choice is still the Oxley Wild Rivers / Wirrikimbe area - there are three ways to access, a nice large camping area, some nice tracks and interesting scenery.
Other alternatives would be to go a little further west but that would probably mean staying on private property or maybe Geraldine 4WD Park (http://www.geraldine.com.au/) not far from Walcha.
The last of these may be the best option - a bit expensive but we may be able to wangle a group deal -as there are varying grades of 4WD tracks on the property, plus trout fishing on nearby properties and participants could travel through the other suggested areas when coming or going.
That is what seat belt fitting stations are for. In Japanese white vans they usually fit the anchorage on a bar that is fitted from one side wall to the other. It may also require you to have approved rear seats and anchorages that can be done at the same place. I have always thought for a daily driver this could be facilitated by fitting a pair of rear seats (seats 6 & 7) from a Disco II or similar which would fold up to the side wall when not in use. or: http://www.mobilityengineering.com.a...agon-seats.htm which already have inbuild child seat anchorages.

What are you lot doing in The Port in May, some meeting??
Sorry, been snooping around as usual and found a thread;):D
Mrs hh:angel:
Hi Mrs hh,
Nothing definate planned as yet, except that there is a 4WD NSW & ACT Association Quarterly Meeting being held there on 19th May.
I'll be attending the meeting on my return home from Uralla and thought why not turn it into a Club trip and maybe check out a few possible locations for the suggested cross border gathering.
I have one private property in mind which would be ideal - but will depend on current owner's attitude and IME the face to face approach usually works better than a phone call, so fingers crossed.
At our 'gathering' last night, one of our members suggested what looks like a great location for this Cross Border Gathering that was initiated by Mrs hh a few months ago.
Location and further details will be announced shortly but it is about 450kms south of Brisbane and 550kms north of Sydney, amoung the NSW North Coast forests so quite a variety of tracks close by. Negotiations are currently under way with the local council and if all goes well, we should have a huge level grassed camping area for a very reasonable charge.
Council are apparently keen to support such a gathering and have done so in the recent past for similar type activities. Our initial suggestion to council is that we will probably have at least 50 vehicles in attendance.
So, if anyone is interested then you'd better mark off the October long weekend in your calendars - That's
Friday 28th September to Monday 1st October 2012
The Monday is Labour Day for NSW and it's the Queens Birthday weekend for Qld.
And, as the date set is close to the AULRO 11th Anniversary I think we will probably need a cake................ or two. :D
Isnt it always the way, I dont do anything for ages and then..... I have a hike planned with my sister for that weekend. Fortunately it is up on the north coast so I might be able to move the days slightly.
Very good a date as been set:D
though the Queens Birthday Holiday is 11th June in Qld;) and that's the last one till Christmas:(
And SLOw has a trip to Western Qld at that time, as it is school Holidays;)
hmmm
Mrs hh:angel:
You need to do a bit of reading.
From 2012, the Queens Birthday holiday has been moved to the first Monday in October from now on, to better balance out the year.
For 2012 only, the usual June holiday will remain, being called the "Diamond Jubilee" holiday.
