    LROC..Sydney......AMVCS winter rally.

I hope this is in the right place.
LROC Sydney members are very welcome to come on the Aust Miltiary Vehicles Collectors Society winter rally.
It is a weekend run from Sydney to the Abercrombie National Park.
The AMVCS has been doing this rally for more than 30 years and everyone usually enjoys it.
Friday night every one meets at Black Springs about 50km out of Oberon if coming from Sydney.( late at night)
Late commers must arrive by 9 am Saturday morning as we usually leave by that time.
Black Springs is a small town ship and the camping area is in the main drag opposite the shop.
Saturday is spent travelling via fire trails to Silent ck camp site which we normally arrive via lunch time and set up camp.
The roads into Silent CK are well graded, but are very steep with many different turn offs.
Silent CK is a large grassy area in side the Abercrombie National PK
The area is well known for its great difference of elevation in a small area and temperature extremes

A good night around the fire at Silent CK is usually had.
Sunday is normally spent getting out of the Park and going home via Brass Walls exit which some times can be slippery as well as steep.
Brass walls exit point is on the Oberon ...Black Springs Goulburn RD about 50km south of black springs.(near MT Werong turn off to Kowmung)
Lunch is had on the side of the track.
The home wards route can be via Goulburn and the Hume Hwy or back track to Black Springs.(most people go there own ways after Brass Walls)
The more adventurous and if enough time remains can go home via Kowmung fire trail and Jenolan Caves.

    Both camping spots have toilets.
    Wife and Kids welcome.
The nearest fuel is Oberon or Goulburn.
    Extra fuel should be taken.
Water is not normally a problem.
The AMVCS usually has some Landrovers, war time jeeps and Dodges on this run and sometimes a Studebaker 6x6......civie vehicles at the rear OK too.
It is always very very cold at night and if conditions are right some times snow.
    camper trailers not recommended .
    Take recovery gear.
The trip is not that tuff, but the vehicles are old , but plenty help is at hand.

These are from last years rally.
We were lucky and got snow on the way out.
Other years it can be dry and dust.

    Thanks for those details.

I am assuming that a lot of people will be going out on Friday 7th August.

Can participants get out of Silent Creek Campsite easily if they wish to leave on Saturday evening?

It is a bit of a trip into Silent CK and if you make the effort it is worth while staying.
There is a easy way out (the route we use to get in), but it still takes time.
I will be Leaving Nowra after work and travelling to Goulburn and and then Black Springs usually arriving there about 10 to 11 pm Friday night.
I don't know how early other people will get to Black springs.
You can arrive as late as 9am Saturday morning at Black Springs.
Later meet ups are difficult as the Silent CK camp site is difficult to find if you have not been there before.
Our route in will be via Arkstone and Emden Vale and Macs Flat.

It's just that one of our members is a local up that way with a very young son and he is reluctant to do the overnight thing, so would prefer to leave saturday evening. (Particularly when he'll have a warm bed just a few Km away. )

You'd better ask master chief that question, it may be secret workshop business!

But I can say it's close enough for him to be home for tea.
