    Insurance

    Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and a new landrover owner; having bought a 110 cargo soft top this week in Sydney. Can anyone advise where they've gone for insurance in NSW (green slip and normal car insurance), and what kind of pricing you've paid?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Welcome on both counts!
My FFR is insured with Shannons, whilst Greenslip is with NRMA. Can't recall pricing sorry but it varies with location, driving history etc anyway doesn't it?
Also, I don't know what the blue slip from AFM describes it as but I have mine regoed as a convertible, which is different in pricing to ute! Though my County is officially a bus

Yep, Shannon's is the way to go. Got my 101 insured with them - no one else had a clue what that was. Insured for mid $20K for $353 per year (limited KM)

    RE insurance

    Thanks guys.

I've called Shannons, and they quoted me $449 pa for comprehensive insurance based on agreed value of $12,500 extreme limited use (1-2/month); I'm in NSW.

They said they could do 10% better if we had 3 policies with them, so about $400.

Surprised bacicat could get $20k sum insured for $340, your conditions must differ to ours although we have lifetime no claim, and both drivers have a clean record and 44yo, so not too sure what you need to do to get that kind of deal.

    Greenslips:
Shannons quoted the green slip at $477.63 (bit only if we buy the other insurance policy with them); We were hoping to do a bit better, the green slip for our LC100 Sahara was only $404 (due next month), and it's GVM is exactly the same.

    Thanks again

bacicat is in Victoria .... I bet his is a club permit vehicle. pre-70's seems to be < $100 full comprehesive through shannons. Post 80's jumps to about $350'ish a year on club permits.

Just had a look at my renewal to make sure I had everything right - I was a few dollars off. $368.87 PA this year. Insured for an agreed value in the mid $20K area, full rego - not club. Includes my trailer when I am towing it. Cover is for extreme limited use - 1 to 2 days per month. I'm 43 and have had a rating 1 for 20 years.

    Hope that helps.

About 10 years ago I moved to Shannon's after my wife's insurer seemed to be charging us ridiculous rates for her Volvo.

Quite literally we ended up paying almost half for her car! But I think this was due to the fact I ended up insuring a few cars with them (Prado, MGB, Austin Healy sprite as well as the Volvo).

In fact this was where I found them really good (especially their prices to insure some of my less frequent drives).

Overall I ended up saving a lot of money and I have also found them excellent to deal with in terms of claims.
