1. From my first landy I was conditioned to accept 15mpg....and the fuel was probably one of the lesser expenses of owning a landy....
2. On one of your other posts on this subject, you want to travel about 20km...so for that distance, who cares how much she drinks! Just enjoy it!!
Its not that, it is 24-26l per hundred just seem a lot. My friend sold me his heavy rigid tipper truck which I use around the farm. I have not used it on the road but he tells me it uses 20l per hundred and it is a lot lot heaver than the 6x6. Which was why I was wondering if the 16-18 was more possible. I wont be doing big km in it so not a big issue I suppose.Quote:

Best case a gs4x4 can be gotten into 8/100 a 6x6 12.
Realisically plan on 15 and 20 /100 for average conditions, 50% more for full load and double for hard offroad.
Probably already been mentioned but you would expect around 11-12 litres per 100kms in the 4x4 depending on how you drive it and highway v city driving conditions. I own an RFSV which I have read is geared lower than the FFR and Cargo Perentie variants but I averaged around 11 litres per 100kms on a 2500kms trip to the Eastern Goldfeilds in WA about 7 weeks ago. I was driving in a range of conditions including about 700kms of dirt and the remainder on the bitumin. Probably on average I was driving around 95kmph for the round trip. I have found the best highway speed for the RFSV is around 90-95kmph although you can drive it at 110kmph but it is a hell of a lot lowder and it tends to suck a hell of a lot more fuel. Maybe more in the 14-15 litres per 100kms but I haven't driven at that speed for long enough to really do a calculation on it. Just noticed the gauge dropping a bit faster and my ears starting to ring when I have done it.Quote:

I have some rentals and today I needed to lop a few branches that were filling the gutters of the house. With the huge tray on my F truck it was three overloaded trips to the dump. This convinced me the new truck is going to be a 6X6 :D
The missus said before I buy it I need to get rid of the hj45 and the 60 series which are for sale but need a few bits and bobs doing to them so in the next days I have some car work to do so I can get my new toy :D

We recently did an 8,000K trip to part of the Simpson Desert, & Hay River track. We got 16.8 to the 100ks. Our 6X6 has the higher diffs 3.5. We get better comsumption when we are in the bush than on the highway as the brick effect comes into play. Paul.
