Thread: Getting a cheap good 6x6 Perentie?

Here are your options:
1. Monthly auction via graysonline
2. A dealer who has bought at auction and added a big markup
3. A private gumtree who has bought at auction and wants to get rid of whilst making a few thousand, but has taken the pain of rego, and any issues it may have.
4. A private gumtree who has bought at auction, doesn't want it and wants to quit it at what it cost them....that's the one to look for!!


Don't forget that the auction price is not the final price...add about 16.5% in fees and GST.

No such thing. It's either good or cheap.

Grays is your best bet, but don't bid against me. It won't be cheap.

Next auctions start next week. Although you can get a cheaper unit straight from the auctions, it will be a bit of an unknown and even a cheap one, after buyers premium, RWC and rego will set you back around $20K. There are a couple of basic GS 6x6's for sale privately at the moment for around this money that have rego and have been through all the hassles you may encounter doing this.

I'm sort of looking myself and the private sale ones are probably the way I'll go if I jump on board.

I was expecting to pay about 20k, but I got talking to a Landy expert in Cairns and he told me that direct they cost about half and most get then resold at a profit. After this I thought I better ask as as much as I have 20k to spend on one if I can get one for less all the better.

Looking at the link thread it looks like the expert is not so expert on 6x6 prices.

Gav is about right.
Mine was about $15,000 at the auctions. By the time it was registered it cost me around $20,000. My variant, as far as I can tell, is one of seventeen made. I wanted that variant.
The cargo variant has been getting a little less than that. You may be happy to have one without a winch which would be even cheaper. High km (100,000 to 200,000) tend to be less desirable. Bear in mind these vehicles, although well maintained, have had a hard life. The low km ones (1,000 to 2,000) have been getting bids of over $30,000 in some cases (+6% +10%).
You should be able to get a bottom of the range cargo variant roadworthy and on the road for between $15,000 and $20,000.
Is that cheap enough for you?
