    Parts book / numbers / Axles / Perentie 6x6

regarding the parts book pdfs on rmlr, for bushranger 6x6. (not on the rmlr forum, so asking here)

Has anyone had problems ordering parts using the Land Rover part number? for drive line etc,

are there changes that were not printed?

    Also

have pitted sealing surface on rear axle, not sure if repairable yet, are axles available second hand or new?

    tks

Do you mean the drive axles or the axle housing?

You shouldn't have any trouble with the part number in the RPS. If a number has been superseced or changed they will usually pick it up from the original number. Not many differences from early to late build vehicles. Things like indicator assemblies, intermittent wipers, later steering wheel and shaft etc. Graysonline are auctioning off a lot of s/h parts including axles every month. You can pick up some spare axles for a 6x6 at bargain prices. I do have a parts book 02186 Vol2 which covers some of the later build 6x6. So far have been unable to find a Vol 1 but still looking.

I should try installing the Viking Express LR parts CD that covers the Perentie. It needs Windows XP.

If you remove that, won't that then allow the wheel bearings to become oil-lubricated rather than greased? Much more betterer.

If it's what I'm thinking of, that's a mod sometimes done to some Landies.

Those seals are there to maintain the higher oil level in the rear diff. Because of the way the diff is tilted to meet the driveshaft which comes over the intermediate diff the higher oil level is required to lubricate the front pinion bearing.
