    ARN 49-047

well i've had the perentie for a month or so, so I thought i should post something up.

ARN 49-047 - FFR and 100000kms on the clock. Picked up from minto auctions and drove it to Brisbane no worries.

Nick named Liz - short for Lizard. The minister of war and finance says she hates the name, so i think i chose wisely :P

    Had a couple teething issues:

Broke the alternator getting the 28V beasty out.
    Installed new alternator
installed a few small heater hoses
new coolant (just in case even though the stuff in it looked brand new)
    checked the oil
    new diesel filter.
    couple little short diesel hoses
installed air on board air compressor/tank/manifold - yet to be wired.
    fitted CB
fitted elect brake controller - not quiet finished yet.
rear prop - new UJ's and male slip joint/balanced and painted.
power steering installed - gathered parts from here and there and fitted it all together
    dual battery installed.
12v led light in the back for camping
new start battery because I thought i had a flat battery .... long story.

    ok ok i'll tell....
    goes like this....
When I picked up the truck it seemed to start well. But suddenly it seemed not to want to start easy. So I thought maybe it didn't like the battery voltage dropping (had been doing short runs and sitting), bought a battery with no change. Then changed the fuel filter, emptied the water catch, checked hard line fittings, cleaned the little gauze on the primer pump... no change. Changed the 2 flex hoses, no change..... and here is a sneaky one.... seems that the start solenoid lever on the back of the pump was fowling on the air intake hose! 2 zip ties later and I think i might have it fixed.

I have to park under trees, and i've noticed that the cabin air intake fills with leaves. I see a few ppl have fitted those snow snorkely things.... I can see myself busting them.... has anyone fitted a snorkel ram head on top of a pipe just on the wing? was thinking i'd do a matchig one on the other side for air intake too..... would give me maybe a bit more air flow into the cab? and in winter I can turn it backward for less air.... maybe.....
