6x6 radiator shroud/radiator. Chase that fuel....

archaeopteryx is doing well, but the fuel economy....

while Id be gloriously happy if I could get a toyota diesel to do it, Id be ok with a v8 Disco doing it Archy is neither a v8 or a Toyota so I am undertaking the process of lecturing the poor thing into behaving on the fuel front as I expect a 4 pot landrover turbo diesel to behave.

    Step one.

The fans gotta go, its belt driven and its not viscous coupled so that thing is shovelling more air than a politician trying to justify their pay grade. it just does it all the time. So electric fans are going in.

    To that end.

Has anyone got a spare 6x6 radiator shroud laying around that they can take some mm accurate measurements from or lend me or even better a spare radiator that the same can be done from so I can begin working out how Im going to make up a multi fan bank to go behind the radiator.

    Cheers in advance.
    Dave

not in a huge hurry yet still dialing in the economy numbers 14.5-17 in the city working hard on the hills and 13.5 on the open highway so far.

at this point I'm just trying to work out sizes.

    .
I would be delighted if mine used fuel at that rate. Typically on highway driving at about 90-95KPH I use 19 litres/100 K's. How do other 6x6's compare?

Im on stock gears and slightly oversized tyres..

    8.25 r 16 as opposed to 7.5 r 16.

The speedo is dead on the odo a little short.

I cruise at 85/90. Its got series ratios in the diffs ya gotta drive at series speeds.

I have a feeling i can get it down to 11.5/100 empty.

Righto Dave the 6x6 radiator measurements are 860W X 415H. Those measurements are from the outer edge of where the tank joins the core and top to bottom of the core.
