AFAIK all the perenties came with vacuum actuated centre diff lock
Yours sounds like a modification
Once the diff lock is engaged on the Petentie it is held in place by the vacuum actuator. Unless yours has some kind of locking mechanism (over centre or locking plate) I would imagine you have to hold it in. Not good.
With the CDL engaged you should have equal drive to the front and rear diffs (check underneath for both prop shafts spinning)
If you have snapped an axle ( most likely is the front left) you should still have drive to the other diff and be able to drive the vehicle with the CDL engaged
