6x6: disconcerting clunking bang sounds from front end during slow tight turns

Hello, I have a strange disconcerting clunk sounds that can be heard and felt through the steering and body during tight slow turns, it sounds quite metallic, im not sure what it is? swivel hubs need lube? it quite actually sounds like a bang, it drives fine, any one know what this could be? sorry this is my first Perentie. Thanks

Sounds like a CV joint to me. Probably worthwhile overhauling the entire front end. You have to strip it down anyway to repair the CV joint, so may as well do the other side at the same time. Well within the capabilities of a home mechanic.
Others will know the vehicle better than I, but I wouldn't be driving it. If the CV or axle shatters it can do further damage and makes for a more difficult repair.

As what has already been said, prolly a very dry CV assembly.
But if you strip it and its not bone dry, as in pretty well lubed, then I'd pull the diff centre and check over the spider gears for a odd broken tooth.
Oddly enough I've had 2 Perenties in that had one or 2 broken teeth on a spider gear.
So driving straight was fine, but when you went round a corner it would randomly lock the diff up momentarily.

seconded, also check the uni while your at it.

easiest test I ever worked out was

    unlock cdl
    tcase to neutral
    hard left turn
    jack up RHF
get under, lightly hold the propshaft to provide some resistance, and then rotate the RHF wheel.

    youd feel it jump
    off the top and approximately.

every 2 turns made it the diff spiders
every turn made it the CV
a semi random pattern made it a wheel or diff bearing bearing "camming" on a roller.

if it was a random pattern, swap the jack around and go again, if the pattern remained the same, Diff, if not then it was the rhf wheel bearing

if you didnt get the issue then the issue was in the lhf and would be apparent when you repeated the test on the lhf.
