Remove an LT95 Transfer Case from a LT95 Gearbox Unit.

I have an old LT95 gearbox/transfer case unit lying around home and my mind has been wondering what to do with it. I know that people have cut off the transfer case as a complete unit and grafted it onto a R380 gearbox.

Now anybody on the forum actually done this? If so is it difficult and as a minimum I assume some sort of adaptor plate is needed and a spud shaft needed to join the R380 output to the LT95 Tfr case input. Interested to hear from anyone with experience in doing it.

Now I would agree that just replacing a LT95 unit with a R380/LT230 unit would be the way to go but I am thinking about my 101 which has its winch driven by the LT95 via a sideways shaft so a LT95 tfr case is really needed.

    Appreciate and thoughts

no need to the lt230t that comes on the back of an R380 and many others is near the same strength as the LT95 (espescially if you get the one with the Tapered bearing setup) The lt230Q IMHO is stronger and quieter.

you can also have it fitted with a torque biasing Diff. If its off already you can also send it off to get the Itermediate shaft holes drilled and sleeved to aleviate the leak and shaft drift issue.

The LT230 can be fitted with a PTO and IMHO itd be a much simpler job to manufacture a drop/side drive gearbox to put onto the back or underside of the LT 230 than hack and mod an lt95 tcase
