Go to The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers. Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere. then go to Registration Numbers>Trailer registration numbers. Your auction listing will record the original Army Registration number, like 101-xxx, 154-xxx or 173-xxx, etc. Look up that number on REMLR and you will find the ACTUAL build date of your trailer, Most were built in the mid to late 60's.

I found it on REMLR and you're right, it was built in 1966. Mine's in fantastic condition considering its age.

Most we're built in 66 for service in South Vietnam by the Ordinance Factory Maribyrnong.

Sorry to threadjack if it is but seemed fitting to post here. In regards to the REMLR listings, my No.5 is not on it. How do i find out its history like other members have?

Getting the history of individual vehicles and trailers is something that REMLR is unable to do,as the information is unavailable, all that is shown is that all vehicles etc. were sold off through Army Disposals Unit, and after a long and hard search by some dedicated members the Chassis numbers were correlated with the ARN's this I know, as I am a founding member of REMLR.


We are not as fortunate as the British Ex-Military folk whose vehicles have plates affixed to them giving the Type,Brand,Contract No,Chassis No,and its Military Registration Number,this Number stays with the vehicle forever,so,when it is sold out people know it and can apply to get it's record,in Australia, when the ARN Plates are removed there is no way to trace it,unless you have bought the vehicle at auction,or have bought one from a dealer which bought at auction,or it has it's old ARN written/painted or paperwork left in it,the current vehicles often have their ARN marked on them somewhere,I have a friend who has just bought a Perentie in Brisbane which had it's old number painted on the front guard,and also it's log book,BUT,that is very rare,took a little wheelin/dealin and got lucky,but no unit/service history.


Sometimes there is a possability that a vehicle may show up in an "in service photo" which shows it's unit at that point in time.

The two trailers I bought 154 403 and 33495 were built 1971 and 1981 respectively but on the rego papers say 1985. This is because AFM put all trailers as 1985 build when they put the vin on them.
