    ExArmy trailers Haulmark vs Cooks?

Reading through the military trailers section has been interesting. I've learnt that the 2 pictured trailers below are Haulmark 750kg and Cooks 750kg trailers. Can anybody tell me what the differences are between them and or what their differnt uses were - I think I've seen the Cooks ones with bars and canopy also. Are they as strong & durable as each other. I see they have different drawbars for some reason, tipping? Thanks!

I'd say the different draw bars are a manouverability thing. You can back a Cooks on a much tighter angle.
There was a Cooks up for sale recently.

Thanks for that Mick. Aside from that are they basically the same?

I haven't had a close look at either of them but they look very similar to me.

I remember reading somewhere the Cooks trailers were use to transport a particular bit of equipment. They might have been supplied as part of a package. I'll see if I can find where that was mentioned.

Ah, yes, a water carrier or generator carrier.

There were a couple of Haulmark water carriers auctioned off in Darwin by Manheim a couple of years before Frontline started.

    Have you found one?

    Thanks for this.

No haven't found one. Just looking at Australian Frontline Machinery and saw them. Actually, I'd only ever heard of the half ton units which are everywhere, but I need to make a decision on my current civilian trailer sometime (repair or grandpa's axe it - no rush) and was looking at these as a part of the decision making process. I saw that there were 2 different 3/4t units which looked good, but didn't know what the difference between them were and if there was value in hunting down or waiting for one particular version if heading that way. But it was also out of interest.

Quite a few Cooks have been sold. Possibly more to come.
I haven't seen many of the Haulmarks sold. I'd say definitely more to come.

Ah that's interesting. At the last Syd auction there were a few Haulmarks go but no Cooks were listed. Thats good if there are more Cooks available then.

REMLR, I'll have to give that a read! Thanks.

In this case, it's not just you.
Yes, the draw bars are very different and, as you say, there is a goose neck in the Cooks.

Interestingly, the pintle on my Perentie is mounted lower than other variants.

Interesting topic comparing the Haulmark and the Cooks trailers. Does anyone know much about the Military 'Track' trailers? I am not sure which single axle trailer would be the best when comparing a No5, Haulmark, Cooks or Track to build into a simple camper. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

    Regards Warrick.
