    NSW Rego for No.5 trailer

    Hi all,

I'm in the process of putting my Military No. 5 on the road in NSW to tow behind a Defender 90 . Have rewired to 7 pin. Spoke to the one of the local trailer manufacturing shops who also do NSW rego inspections about getting a roadworthy & vin number but they came back with "no go, big problem, axle on this model must be moved to comply with VSB1...axle to be rear of the centre of cargo area". I looked up VSB1 and could nothing along these lines. Am I being taken for a ride by this mob? From reading previous posts on this topic I thought it was a relatively straight forward process in NSW.

mr. trailermaker wants to sell his trailers, not just be a blue slip issuer.

i would think it could make sense to take your rego enquiries to a blue slip issuer who has experience with these trailers.

    Where are you located ?

Stacks of them are registered in NSW, but don't waste your time telling mr. trailermaker

Yep, Mr 87County is quite correct. Time to move on.

I thought the No5s sold by AFM in NSW had VINs. Where did you get the trailer?

Thanks for that. Yes, I thought that might be the case, as I've seen a few on the h'way with NSW plates. I'm located between Queanbeyan & Cooma.

Mick, I got it from AFM Sydney auction last year. Has been sitting in the shed while i got it ready. No VIN at all (searched for it), only came with the aluminium plate stamped with Army rego No. & Manu serial No.

Hi, Puckawidgeepete, i just read ur post, im wondering if u still have the 12 pin round plug that came with the no5 trailer and if u would sell it to me if u dont want to keep it. Im after one for my no5 trailer as it was damaged by the towie that delivered my trailer to me. Been looking around for one for a while. If its got some of the wiring still attatched would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Cheers Rod

    Rod,

Yes, I still have the 12 pin & I don't need it. I'll look for it in the shed & drop you a line.

No more "blue slips" with VINs for No.5s from AFM I'm afraid Mr Marsh. Haulmarks and similar still get one.

I understand that current NSW procedure (always changeable of course) is for the "blue slip" supplier to apply for a VIN from RMS (RTA) and stamp it as part of his issuing the "blue slip" .

In NSW these trailers (due to unladen weight) fall above the cheap "no annual inspection" category with RMS. Therefore they require annual inspections and, naturally, higher rego fees

Yes Mr Marsh, we're all thinking of migrating

Please tell me, how are economic refugees "from your north" treated in The Mexico ?

Do you have encampments, benefits and border police ?
