There are many on ebay and carsales you can start and drive.
Brisbane yard about 6 months ago we started them all and no one seemed to care.
Of course they were outside. And it was raining, so not many staff out in the yard.
At Minto ... Not a chance of starting one. But then the staff there are much more helpful when answering questions.
Mick that's sound advice. But my beef is that the person who is listed to contact for more details is unwilling to provide any further info. They would have had to move the vehicles for the photo shoot etc. I would think the easiest way for them to have done this would have been to drive them. That would provide some guidance whether they are driveable, rollable or needed a crane etc. Also the Army must have made some sort of assessment on these vehicles before deciding that they are not worth fixing. Why is this a state secret? A simple comment such as - Bent chassis, stuffed gearbox, hydrauliced engine etc would help. And why should the log books not be included?Quote:

It wouldnt surprise me if the Townsville guy genuinely had no idea about the vehicle conditions. Likely just a caretaker of goods.
The sydney guys seem to be dedicated AFM material handlers. Plus presale maintenance is performed there on-site. They are much more clued in to the specs of each vehicle.
As the auctioneers, Grays allegedly put pressure on AFM to disclose as much info as possible in the lot descriptions.
I heard an *unverified rumour* from an *undisclosed source*, that one non-operational 4x4 in a past auction was known to have a seized engine. Grays were going to include that in the lot info, but AFM forbade it. Grays were not happy.

Most that have had rebuilds have the intake man and fuel/ gas piping sprayed. Only confirmed in the GM120
Can anyone tell me how much the unimog made? I put some bids on and then got outbid continuously by an autobid and lost patience with it..cheers
