Out of about 15 units auctioned in Adelaide, 2 were hardtops, and went for about double the price of the soft-tops ($12K - 14K from memory).

So the soft tops go for $7K-ish? Far out, that sounds like a bargain. That said, i'd pay double for a hardtop. My DD is a soft-top Suzuki Sierra - great little unit, but I can't secure any valuables, nor am I that comfortable leaving it parked up overnight in randomsville.

As long as you know what you are getting then they do sound like a bargain. But if you want creature comforts or modern convenience, and don't like long term hearing loss, then they aren't so much a bargain...
There have been a few change hands already due to the reality of living with an on-road old-fashioned tractor :D

you need to remember the 16% on top of those prices for gst and I think the other one is buyers premium

My winning bid for my FFR was $6.5K, but by the time I'd added on buyers premium and GST, it went up to $7.5K. Then vehice inspection and registration was another $500 and then $400 for insurance.

After an oil change of the engine/gearbox, fitting an ignition key and a few minor tidy ups, you are heading towards $9.5K - $10K.

Sounds just like reality with my DD Suzuki Sierra, but rather than being a tractor, they're more of a quad bike. It's extremely loud (I have a box of earplugs in the glovebox), unstable at high speeds, handling is agricultural at best, it bounces around like a baby lamb even on flat surfaces, I get soaking wet every time it rains, the sun fries me on hot summer days, flies land on me at every stop light, no AC, no GPS, no other acronyms... but it goes absolutely anywhere, it's simple and reliable, and even a trained monkey can fix it. There's no other way to drive.

Just looking for something a little bigger so I can tow, cart more around at once, and tour a little further into the outback than i'm willing with my 'shopping trolley with benefits'.

better double check that as I believe from reading on here the tow capacity is pretty low.

I think they will tow just a bit more than a suzi and you can pack a lot inside them:)

Towing not a problem up to 1200kg (legally)
