JINX SPUDBOY!
Kevin must be going through his voicemail.. hehe
Yeah - he probably has a few to get through! Gave me pretty straight answers and said "I don't know" when he didn't know, so that was good.
I asked about any auctions in Adelaide, and he wasn't keen on saying yes or no, just that it was possible but no plans. So that doesn't look like there's anything local on the horizon :(
I got a few "I don't know" as well, which is I also felt were honest.
I get the feeling they won't be anywhere but Sydney. At least not in the near future. If I was them, I would only consider other cities if sales were bad...

What are the chances of you owning a Unimog in the next few months then? ;)
Hmmmm - don't ask my missus that question!! She is less than keen....
Dunno really. Complications for me would be:
- it's in Sydney
- sorting out the rego (both getting it to Adelaide and then taking it through Regency Park)
- I don't really like auctions
- It's the first auction, so prices may be higher than at later auctions
- They both have Slow Axles
- They both come with trailers
- No air-con, so that's another $5-6K on top
- No winch
Will be watching the prices with interest though. If it is only going for something stupid I will probably bid and sort out all the problems as I come to them.
Talking to a bloke at work that apparently knew a thing or two about the arrangement, the plan is to sell a few at a time and spread it out over a few months and a few locations.
If they sold the lot at 1 auction in 1 location then the prices would be low and the Commonwealth wouldn't get the best return. They can afford to have them sitting around for 12 months and not lose anything as the assets would be sitting in a vehicle compound anyway.
They have a few 1000 units to sell, so no need to dive in on the first few to be sold.
Oh - sorry I didn't ask for that. Just ring Kevin and he will email you the details. He's pretty quick to get back with enquiries.
Cheers
David
I'm with you on these points! SWMBO is OK with me buying a 110, but there is expectation I would sell the Disco. Not sure I agree on that point!! Cross that bridge when we come to it. :p
As Hoyks has pointed out, I think I need to restrain myself from bidding on the first auction unless it's going for a bargain price. There is so many more to go... I can't afford to fly to Sydney unless I'm committing and bidding without looking at it seems risky?!?!? I don't want to end up winning one cheap, only to find out there was a reason it was so cheap!
