I guess everything is a possibility, but (just looking at the pics) there really doesn't seem to be anything under the hood that looks new and I thought they reset the mileage when a rebuild was completed.
Here's my thoughts (FWIW :-)
- Perhaps the new owner used the vehicle in an overseas theatre and bought it for sentimental reasons
- Or, it's actually stuffed full of "contraband" from overseas and only a couple of people new this
Either way, I hope the new owner will enjoy their new Perentie!

KG Kanimbla thought he was on a winner , until JD guzzumped with an extra 50%, followed 1 minute later by JB Greenacre with a winning punt.
Strange thing was that JD and JB didn't feature in earlier bids ( like as thought they didn't follow this beast or were playing coy) then at the penultimate moment they launched themselves . Why?
I'm with you neophyteguy.... Own up JD and JB ! , what was the contraband?
Nope, cant agree..
The bidding history indicates only your last bid, not the 20 or so you- and others made. Next auction, follow the bidding & you will see. KG Kanimbla probably had an autobid & JD could have chucked in 10 bids, only his successful bid shows up, so he only got outbid by $100, not 50%
Looking at the time - 5.12PM - & I bet if I did a really anal analysis:) it will show that these bidders lost out on earlier vehicles and jumped on the remaining vehicles & simply got excited in the moment - after all it is an auction & very easy- I've gone $500 over my max a few times- to press that button...
It wasn't a rebuild.
Minto will have a large number of disassembled vehicles from the sound of it and for the good folks in the NT there will be another auction in Darwin this month :)
Well, it took them less than a month to fix it.
202-216 is re-offered for sale this month in Melb with a nice looking driver's door. Well, actually, they've re-used the same pics from last month!

This month: Land Rover 110 6X6 Infantry Carrier Hard Top 10/1996 Auction (0002-3005416) | GraysOnline Australia
Not sure if this topic is ok as I was surprised to not see any threads for previous auctions. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place.
Is it ok to discuss the auction in progress here?
This one is a little different than previous. At least the Minto catalog is. I haven't looked at the other states yet.
Long running thread here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/military-v...-disposal.html
Ahh! There it is.
Apologies.
