    Army vehicle disposal

Sell and Parker scap metal merchants have the contract to dispose of the older army trailers and vehicles.
Sell and Parker have aquired a large site at Minto NSW (Sydney) to store and sell the vehicles.
They currently have 175 items in that location with most of it being trailers and perentie landrovers (4x4) in all sorts of different conditions.
    This figure is increasing daily.
There was suppose to be near 600 vehicles by christmas, but I cannot see that happening now.

My understanding is the vehicles will be sold directly from Sell and Parker with no middle men.
Sell and Parker is doing this alone and they have many scrap yards on the east coast.
The vehicles must be sold with military equiptment removed.
Some vehicles will require disassembly of the brakes and asbestos brake linings removed or replaced with non asbestos types.
At present there is only a few 6x6 perenties and one Mack.
The sell off will be done over many years as the vehicles become advailible.
light trailers and older perenties will be first with 6x6 perenties next .
Macks and mogs will be disposed of by sell and parker in coming years.
I hear a rumour that the M113s will be sold off too, but I suspect not to the public, but for scrap.

Alot of people have known this information for a while now and have kept it under their belt, I suspect to get some sort of a advantage.
I am not in the market for a perentie landrover and have no reason to keep quiet.
I strongly suspect there will be no short cuts to anyone .
Sell and Parker are under obligation to get maximum price for the trailers and vehicles.
Final details of how /when they are being sold is still being sorted.
Any information I can release I will.

thanks for that insight Ron, much appreciated although at this stage I'm not in the market for one

when I first heard of Sell and Parker I thought it was a euphamistic joke - a play on words like - "Dumpster Motors"... relating to the sale of non-going vehicles

as in "sell ('er) and park 'er "

but I did find out later that they are a fair dinkum outfit

I know messrs Sell and Parker personally, they were importing Tatras a fair few years ago, still have a 4x4 truck mothballed in a yard, pretty nifty bit of kit. One of the business owners used to manufacture trucks for mining and service industries, hence their interest in Macks and Mogs. If I hear anything that I can share, I will, but chances are the rumour mills will let it out before I do.

Ron, where are you hearing this information from? Please PM me if you can't state your source publically.

    FYI.

the landrover fleet is asbestoes "clean"

there are 3 potential gaskets that may have asbestoes in them BUT

    1. they are an oil seal gasket and are wet with oil
    2. Are not considered to release friable asbetoes if removed IAW emei's
    3. Not all of that type of gasket are asbestoes.

the phrase gearbox, oil and pump should point you in the correct direction if you're curious.

    brake linings is the issuse.
The landrover perenties were made with asbestoes brake linings new.
Not all have be swapped over to non asbestoes types.
Ie the new old vehicles will have the original linings.
At first the whole lot of the perenties was going to be relined for public sale, but it has been discovered the army maintance records are accurate and only some will have to be done.

I was wrong about Sell and Parker, they are contracted by a friend who doesn't have a finger in that pie anymore.
Sell and Parker have had military contracts for destroying sensitive equipment for a while now, they are awfully good at scrapping stuff but not renowned for rebuilding or onselling anything except scrap iron to China.
