    Perentie Bonnet Tools

Wondering if anyone knows the best place to grab the bits and pieces that mount on the perentie bonnet

Shovel, pic, axe etc. Just trying to track down some gear that's close to the original stuff.

A good pic of a loaded perentie bonnet would be helpful!!

    Thumbs up Perentie?? 6 or a 4?

Do you have a 6x6 or a 4x4 Land Rover? I fix the dam things every day for the ADF, any pictures you need, just say the word.

    Bonnet Tool Cyclone

    Hello all,

I am very sorry if this is closed and finished but does anyone know the exact models of the tools i need to fit on the bonnet of the Perentie?
Cyclone is the brand, And i can get it from Bunnings. Just wanted to get the right parts.

Also does anyone still have the photos of the cyclone tools on the bonnet?

    Thank you!

    Cyclone 635076 2.7kg road pick

    The shovel

I ended up getting the pick at Blackwoods.

Are you going to be using them or is it just for show?

If you are planning on using them, I suggest the mattock may be more useful then a pick. Unless you want to go mining...

I got mine from Mitre 10. There was a shovel there half the price of the Cyclone that was good quality.

I sprayed all my metal in black rust proof paint and linseed oiled all the wood they came up really good.

Keep an eye out at swap meets & trash & treasure markets as well as places like Aussie Disposals.

Here are the tools on a Defender Tanami.

Depending on how 'original' you want it to be :-
The T-handled shovel came from Aussie Disposals (dated '58 from memory), mattock from a trash & treasure and the axe head was given to me and I fitted a new handle.

The Cyclone tools are all a fairly bright green which I wouldn't think would be something the ADF would be keen on. From the few photos I can find, it looks like the shovel blade and pick head are both black (if not fully rusted). In fact, some of the photos look like the entire tools have been painted black. For the lucky few who have found the tools still on their vehicles, what colour are they; all black, black blades/head with natural wood handles, olive drab?
