    Correct Colour For Miltary Equipment.

Hello all, I am a volunteer at the Fort Scratchley site in Newcastle and we have a project going at the moment to repaint a recently obtained Bristol Bofor L60 Anti Aircraft gun and also at a later date to repaint a ex military Series 3 LandRover and a ex military International Harvester Mark 3.

Does anybody here know the correct colour code for the olive drab this equipment was painted in when originally used by the military in the 1960's and 70's.

Plan B is to take a sample of paint to a paint shop for matching, but as you can imagine the paint has faded somewhat.

I hope the brainstrust here can help.

I recommend the camouflage green from Protec Paints.
It's very close to the unfaded bits on my stuff.

Protech spray cans are larger than average and if you buy a few you will get them under $20.

Explain what it is for, and tell them that you are a volunteer and they may be prepared to part sponsor.

Not only that but Protec still supply the military in olive drab, tan and black so they will have consistancy across the colours.

I suggest you pop onto REMLR (register of ex military land rovers) which is an Aussie site. They have lots of info and details.

Using the vin numbers you can also locate the original ARN (army rego number) of the vehicles and any known history. Lots of info and photos of how they looked etc in service. Lots of people there with huge amounts of knowledge from experience more than happy to share.

    Good luck!

G'day Rod, what brand of paint is that, I can't make it out on the photo. Protec appear to have no dealers in Newcastle according to their site (I find that hard to believe). Also as far as the Bofor is concerned, we will brush paint it as that is all we did when I served on them in the 60's. We also have a 25 pounder field gun at the Fort and it could do with some TLC. Somebody else is in charge of that gun though.

Ok name on the tin is Barrier but the reverse of the label says manufactured by Protec here in SA.
They have a ph no. 1800033111 24 hrs. Or a local no. 0884476311. Suggest u give em a call they could prob freight to you. Its possible they have larger tins available. Mine is 4 litres. Hope this helps.

I am in no way connected to this company. I just buy they're product.

    Cheers Rod
