    Wondering about collectability??

Just come into possession of a 1991 Ford Fairlaine Army officers car, probably a chaffuer driven transport for Australian Army high ranking officers.
Car is still Army green under bonnet/Firewall, last owner had car repainted a modern silver/green colour, it is a nice looking car.
As in the heading I was wondering if anyone here knows whether this type of car is a "collectable".
I haven't taken any pics yet or checked the VIN or build dates/colour, but I don't want to part this car out if it is worth something to a collector.
Any interest or info on whether this car is worth saving, can PM or email me or phone 0407103320, or reply here, Thanks, Regards Frank.

Yes, very collectable, to the right collector. Not many about in original condition.
As to what it is worth to a collector, it depends a lot on condition and how much of the original army fittings remain.
I've seen a few ex army Falcon XY utes change hands in recent times. Anything XY gets descent money nowdays. Some of the XY utes changed hands for descent money, some not so much (lots of rust and very poor condition).
What was salvagable on those in poor condition would have gone to other restoration projects.

Yes, it is a 3.9L engine and 4 speed Auto, the colour code (which I haven't been able to confirm) is "FB", car has been repainted (from Army Green?) to "Ice Mint" a light green metallic, interior is immaculate, has LPG fitted, but Tank removed by prev.owner, will get it up on hoist and see what's lurking underneath, thanks for the info, Mick and Pop, Regards Frank.

Interiors in staff cars were usually pretty good as they were covered with nice white seat covers during their service life. Not to protect the seats but to keep the shiny bums uniforms clean

Missed a (still green) ZL a couple of years ago here in town. It has since disappeared off the radar.

I am looking to sell it, I want to go over it and Blue Slip it, as the car has been kept in storage (out of the weather) and covered for the last year or so.
I want to fit a new radiator, flush the block, oil and filters and renew the brake fluid as a precaution, the missus loves it and wants to keep it, but I have too many projects to give it any time, if you are interested send me an email and I will send some pics, Regards Frank.
