Lovely [emoji1303]
Thought some people might like a look at our 1958 Nissan patrol. Model is 4W65. Engine is 4 litre side valve, gearbox is 4 speed with a creeper first gear and no low range. It is one of 5 possibly 6 to come to Australia for military trials and was eventually sold off. As far as we know it is the only one on the road and we believe Nissan Aust have one in storage.

The original LandCruiser BJ was similar with a single speed transfer case and a 4 speed box and 1st gear was a a crawler.
this one looks more like the Early Nissan
Interesting looking vehicle, sounds like it has some good history with it.
An uncle of mine was an Overseer on the Dog Fence at "Smithville" in the late 1950's and into the 1960's.
At the time they were using Land Rovers to patrol the fence line, but also got to trial the early Toyota's and Nissans for an appraisal.
Does it have exposed uni-joints in the front knuckles?
Cheers, Mick.

Rover were not the only company to copy the Jeep. Toyota even used the name Jeep until Willys lawyered up. Looking round for other name possibilities, Landrover was already in use, and using that would only get them in more legal trouble, but in the sense of a ship, a cruiser is the same as a rover. Hence Landcruiser. (Remember that the traditional Rover car badge is a bow-on view of a Viking ship).
